GoodGym Reading

Looking to start a new hobby in 2026? Why not give GoodGym a try! We combine volunteering with exercise for all paces, and best of all, you'll get to meet some new people and explore new places by doing it! GoodGym Reading is run by volunteers, for volunteers!
We meet on a Monday evening in Reading town centre and make our way to tasks from there. We often have weekend tasks too!

Over the next few weeks we've got plenty of ways to get involved with GoodGym Reading! The weather may be chilly outside, but we do have some lovely indoor tasks to get stuck into! We're really proud to be supporting Connect Reading with the Giving Tree appeal. We wrote out 100 gift tags for gifts requested by local charities and organisations. The tags were distributed to local businesses and The Oracle for the presents to be bought. We were also delighted to join the launch event and hear first hand from organisations who will be sharing the gifts with those they support! If you want to get involved, head to the Oracle, find a tag and donate a gift, or donate through Connect Reading's website. No one should be without a gift at Christmas!

On Monday 27th Oct, we will and run 5km at a chatty pace together. Darker nights shouldn't be a blocker for getting out and being active for women. No need to sign up, just meet us at 7pm for a run! No one will be left behind!

Saturday 25th Oct, we have a drop-in session from 9am to paint the walls at South Reading Children's Centre, to help Reading Council make the Family Hub more welcoming!

On Monday evening, we litter picked along Oxford Road and Great Knolly Street. The sky was lit by a super bright moon, and lots of lovely passersby thanked us for our work! We stopped for our group photo outside New Beginnings Reading with the 7 bags of rubbish we'd collected! 💪

On Sunday afternoon, we helped Whitley Growallot with getting one of the triangular beds weeded and covered, to get a head start on next year's planting! There's lots to do at the allotment all year round, so we'll definitely be back to help this great site grow food for the community!
