Apache doesn't match rewritten URL as regular file 15/06/2019

When creating an external redirect using mod_rewrite in Apache .htaccess files you nearly always should be using the "L" (last) flag to prevent later directives being processed. This question on ServerFault highlights one of the caveats with omitting the "L" flag. I also explain what is actually happening behind the scenes.

Apache doesn't match rewritten URL as regular file I've setup a .htaccess to redirect requests against the containing directory /htdocs/foo to the file bar.php. 1st of all: I know how to achieve this in general, but for reasons out of my control t...

In .htaccess files, is there any difference at all between “!=on” and “off” 23/10/2018

In .htaccess files, is there any difference at all between “!=on” and “off” I’m trying to better understand Apache’s use of a binary attribute. In an .htaccess file with the code # Check if HTTPS is 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗼𝗻 RewriteCond %{HTTPS} !=on Is there more processing occurri...

Problems with using relative URLs in your HTML. And caveats with using the "base" element to resolve this.

Redirect to %-encoded URL parameter using mod_rewrite in .htaccess 12/08/2018

I wouldn't actually recommend doing this using Apache (.htaccess) alone, but this solution employs some useful (and overlooked) fundamentals of mod_rewrite that can be used in other areas. (Aside: Better to do this particular task in your application logic and white-list the target URLs, as scripts like this are often abused by scammers.)

Redirect to %-encoded URL parameter using mod_rewrite in .htaccess There's a couple of things I'm trying to understand in relation to a RewriteRule. The working rule on a URL strips a query back to a redirect, eg. the URL: https://www.example.com/application?use...

Amazon is complicit with counterfeiting 03/03/2018

"Amazon is complicit with counterfeiting!" - It would seem that Amazon could do a whole lot more to help genuine sellers and clamp down on counterfeiting on its platform.

Amazon is complicit with counterfeiting When someone goes to the lengths of making counterfeits of your products, it's at least a sign you're doing something right. And it deserves a minute of flatter
