Reading Announcement
It is with great sadness that we have to announce the closure of Reading & County Rabbit Club. Many of you will be aware of the challenges the club has faced over the last few years. Since being given notice from Grazeley Village Hall we were very fortunate to find a new venue at Bradfield Southend, and were able to hold some very enjoyable shows which attracted a good entry. However we were reliant on the kindness of a small number of committee members and helpers travelling from as far away as Dorset and Cornwall in order to put the show on and make it a success.

With the world emerging from Covid lockdowns a few of our small team were unable to continue helping, so we made the decision to partner with Swindon and hold joint self-penning shows at their Wootton Bassett venue. This allowed us to try and keep the club running in some form, and given the damp conditions of the storage shed where we kept our pens it meant we could sell these on and help another club get on its feet, before the pens and wood became rusty, rotten and unusable.

However, after a year of this arrangement and lukewarm support for the idea of self penning, both clubs needed to reassess their priorities. Unfortunately for Reading this means it is no longer a viable club, with no club officials or committee. At our EGM on Sunday 27th November 2022 it was unanimously decided that the club would close. Once the 2022 accounts have been finalised all remaining funds will be donated to Swindon Rabbit Club (Pending acceptance) in order to try and support them and keep the money within the fancy in the local area.

We would like to thank everyone who has supported the club over the years, it was not an easy decision to come to but sadly it is the only option, and thank you all for your understanding.
