Due to an increase in client numbers, The Princes Centre is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team Monday to Thursday.

In this role, you’ll work alongside a diverse group of clients, but will be predominantly supporting our older clients. We’re looking for someone who is patient, attentive, and passionate about helping others maintain independence, dignity, and quality of life.

🚌 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬: 4 hours per day (split shift – 8:00am–10:00am & 2:45pm–4:45pm)
Locations covered: Aylesbury & High Wycombe and surrounding villages

The Princes Centre is a friendly, community-focused day centre supporting adults with a range of needs. We’re looking for a caring and reliable 𝐃1 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫 to join our team and help transport our lovely clients to and from the Centre each day.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠:
- Driving our minibus safely on local routes each morning and afternoon
- Helping clients on and off the vehicle, making sure they’re comfortable and safe
- Keeping the vehicle tidy and reporting any maintenance issues
- Working closely with our friendly team to make each day run smoothly

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫:
- A full UK driving licence with D1 category (essential)
- Someone who knows their way around Aylesbury and High Wycombe
- A kind, patient person who enjoys helping others
- Reliable, friendly, and a good communicator

Following a successful six-year collaboration with New Beginnings Nursery in Bourne End, we are delighted to announce the launch of a new intergenerational partnership with Princes Risborough Nursery.

This initiative marks an exciting new chapter for our Risborough Centre. The first session took place this week, filling the room with the wonderful sounds of laughter, cheer, and conversation as children and older adults came together to share stories, activities, and smiles.

Our collaborations are built on friendship, inclusion, and mutual respect, fostering connections without judgement. Though our two organisations care for different generations, we share the same core values: compassion, creativity, and a commitment to providing nurturing environments for all ages.

We are excited to see this partnership grow and to witness the many special moments and meaningful relationships that will develop between the children and our residents in the weeks and months ahead.

🗣️ Every time you enter the room, announce yourself.
Say “Hi Dad, it’s Amanda.”
Please never ask “Do you know who I am?” — that only causes anxiety.

💭 If I get dementia…
• Embrace my reality. If I think we’re going to visit my parents, let me believe that. It will make me happy.
• Don’t argue with me about what’s real. My world may look different from yours.
• If I don’t know who you are, don’t take it personally — my timeline is confusing.
• If I can’t use utensils, don’t feed me right away. Try finger foods so I can still feed myself.
• If I’m sad or anxious, hold my hand and listen. Don’t tell me my feelings are wrong.
• Talk to me like an adult — not like a child.
• Help me enjoy the things I’ve always loved: music, exercise, reading, friends.
• Ask me to tell you stories from my past.
• If I seem agitated, take time to figure out what’s bothering me.
• Treat me the way you’d want to be treated.

🍎 Keep plenty of snacks nearby — I might not be able to say I’m hungry, but I’ll still feel it.
🎵 Make sure I can always hear my favorite music.
🤝 Don’t talk about me as if I’m not in the room.
🎉 Don’t exclude me from family gatherings — I still love being included.
🧡 Know that I still love hugs, handshakes, and kind words.

🏡 If you can’t care for me 24/7, don’t feel guilty. Find someone to help or a great place for me to live — with activities and joy.
🙏 Please visit often if I’m in a care community.
💗 Remember: I am still the person you know and love.
