🏒DDC Proudly Supports Jon Lowe at the MIHWA 🏒

At DDC, we’re incredibly proud to share that our Head of Business Development, Jon, is once again representing at the Masters Inline Hockey World Association Veterans World Cup, one of the premier international competitions in the sport. MIHWA’s brings together some of the world’s strongest veteran inline hockey nations, with a rich history of fierce competition and international excellence.

Ahead of the tournament, Jon reflected on what the opportunity means:

“Representing your country is one of the greatest honours any athlete can experience. Pulling on the Great Britain jersey never gets old, and it’s a privilege to compete alongside such a committed group of players. We’ve been training together since December, working hard to prepare for the challenges ahead and build on last year’s performance.”

The road won’t be easy. Great Britain finds itself competing against nations with a proven history of success at the World Cup, including former champions and medal-winning teams, making every game a true test of character and determination. The competition features some of the strongest veteran inline hockey programs in the world, with traditional powers including the USA, Canada, Sweden and France regularly challenging for medals.

Jon continued: “We know the challenge in front of us. There are former champions and medalists throughout the tournament, and there are no easy games at this level. Our focus is on competing hard, representing Great Britain with pride, and improving on last year’s seeding. If we do the small things right and play as a team, we believe we can make an impact.”

As Jon and the Great Britain squad take to the rink, everyone at DDC will be following their progress closely.

We’re immensely proud to see one of our own representing Great Britain on the world stage and wish Jon and the entire GB Veterans team every success throughout the tournament.

Good luck, Jon🏒

The conversation around mental health in the UK is louder than ever, and for good reason.

Across England, 1 in 4 people experience a mental health problem each year. For some, this develops into more serious challenges and too many still suffer in silence.

But there’s one group that’s often missing from this conversation: field service engineers.

Working in the field can be isolating. Long hours on the road. Time spent alone between jobs. Limited day-to-day interaction with colleagues.

As Nick Fletcher, former Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Issues Affecting Men and Boys, put it: “Ensuring workplace culture is mentally safe is crucial.”

At DDC, this is something we take seriously.

That’s why we’re proud to recognise our newest Mental Health First Aider, Lead Service Engineer Sean Finucane, who shared an important perspective:

“Being in the field can be a lonely experience. You aren’t surrounded by colleagues, you’re alone in your van a lot of the time, in your own head. And that’s not a great place to be if you’re struggling.”

Creating space for open conversations isn’t a ‘nice to have’ it’s essential.
✔️ Checking in with colleagues
✔️ Normalising conversations about mental health
✔️ Building a culture where people feel safe to speak up

Because no one, no matter where they work, should feel like they’re dealing with it alone.
