Have you discovered our Story Doors Trail yet?

24 local schools have each designed and made a wonderful wooden door based on one of their favourite books. There's one door hidden in each library across BCP and we're challenging you to find as many as possible this summer.

A trail map is available on our website or you can pop into any branch and pick one up. https://www.bcpcouncil.gov.uk/libraries/national-year-of-reading-2026/story-doors-trail

Let us know which doors you've found. They really are amazing!

We would like to give a BIG SHOUTOUT to all our volunteers who have supported Parkstone Library this year.

โญOur Duke of Edinburgh Award volunteers who give their time to help in the library.

โญThe Knit and Natter ladies who knit hats and scarves for the homeless and have recently crocheted beautiful blue forget-me-knots for Dementia Week.

โญOur Tech Buddy who's been busy helping our customers every Friday afternoon with the phones and laptops and internet problems.

โญThe Royal Voluntary Service who provide a home library service for our customers who are not able to visit the library in person.

And all the other volunteers who have helped and supported with shelving.

Thank you for all your hard work.

A little poetry to feed your soul.

The thing is, I still believe in it. The sky during its thunder. The sea during her storm. The earth during its darkest hours. You. Yes You, reading this. I am tired of us abandoning the parts of ourselves we do not like and calling ourselves lost things. The sun does not abandon us when a storm visits. The sea does not abandon the cliffs because they are hardened to her touch.
