Following the tragic weekend fire at a neighbouring tenement in Scott Street, That Bar and The Loft will have to close for around six months as the ruined building is demolished.

At this time, the thoughts of our management and staff are with everyone affected by the devastating blaze which took hold of the property.

Sadly, one man lost his life and others, including a firefighter, required hospital treatment, with dozens of residents left homeless.

We are proud of the support our staff and patrons provided to residents fleeing their homes on the night of the fire.

Thankfully the bravery and professionalism of the emergency services personnel prevented further casualties and the blaze spreading even further.

We have been informed by Perth and Kinross Council that no part of the corner tenement can be salvaged, and demolition is already under way.

Inevitably, this will impact on That Bar and The Loft.

The authorities have warned us that part of South Street will remain closed to pedestrians and traffic and our premises must close for around 24 weeks as demolition work continues.

This means we will be unable to provide our customary warm welcome to regulars and visitors over the summer and into the autumn.

But as a long-standing Perth business with roots deep in the local community, we appreciate that the wellbeing of all those affected by this heartbreaking incident must be the overriding priority.

Our Late Lounge Fridays continue tonight with DJ Ciaran Melhuish live from 10pm….’til the early hours🎧

Hailing from just outside Dundee, he has held residency’s at Underground nightclub, Casa, The Vic, Nola & also been included in lineups at Tinsmiths, Bird & Bear, Temple Lane & as part of DDE & Freshers week for Dundee university🎵
