🏹🌦️ Perth Archery Club Summer Handicap Competition 2026 🌦️🏹

According to the weather forecast, today was supposed to involve competing from a canoe. Thankfully, the weather gods must have been archers too, as we only had a few showers!

A huge congratulations to all our medal winners today and a shoutout to overall winners:

🏆 David - winner of the Doo'cot Trophy
🏆 Annabelle - winner of the Ayton Cup

Special congratulations to our father-and-daughter double act, David and Annabelle. Family bragging rights have officially been secured!

🏹 Mark took top honours in the Traditional category, showing that some things never go out of style.

🌟 And a massive well done to Annie, our youngest competitor at just 10 years old, who won the Mini Ayton Cup. We suspect she's already planning where to display her medal!

The shooting was excellent, the company was even better, and the day was rounded off perfectly with strawberries and cream, plenty of delicious cakes, and the important post-competition debate about whether archery burns enough calories to justify a second helping. (The answer was unanimously "yes".)

Ian Heywood is a volunteer coach at Perth Archery Club - Scotland. As one of the designated Perth Archery Club coaches, Ian has a number of members who he oversees and works with on a regular basis. He is highly respected within the club for his expertise and enthusiasm 👏

Back in March, he was awarded Coach of the Year at our 2026 Scottish Archery Annual Awards Ceremony, recognising his dedication and commitment to the sport🏆

Tonight's archery session was probably best described as soggy! ☔🏹

The first half hour was spent either sitting in cars or sheltering in the pavilion while a particularly heavy rain shower passed over. A few people decided to call it a night and head home, but the hardcore archers stuck it out!

Thankfully, patience paid off. Once the rain cleared, the weather improved and it turned into a really pleasant evening on the range.

Day 2 of SA Inter Area Team Championships and we’re ready to go! 🏹

A quieter session on the range tonight - maybe the mixed weather forecast or Friday night plans kept a few people away. That said, it turned into a really good evening and thankfully the weather behaved itself for us! 🎯

Great to see some new faces joining us too. Always nice to welcome new archers onto the line and see everyone enjoying themselves.

Perth Archery Club was well represented across both days and bowstyles at the Scottish Tour this weekend! 🎯

Hot, breezy conditions kept everyone on their toes, but there was some great shooting in both qualification rounds and head-to-heads.

Plenty of sunscreen was applied… although a few archers still came home looking slightly more “target face red” than planned ☀️😂

A brave chicken even attempted to join the competition which caused much hilarity!

Overall, a cracking weekend. Well done everyone
