What a week it’s been…

From filling a car entirely with rhubarb, dodging thunderstorms, harvesting the first sugar snaps of the season, testing new products, running markets and generally surviving the week!

The great rhubarb mission continued, with Lisa and I harvesting mountains of the stuff from generous private gardens across Perthshire. By the end of it we’d frozen a whopping 150kg of rhubarb ready for future batches of our Rhubarb & Ginger Jam. We were ridiculously proud of ourselves. The car suspension, perhaps slightly less so.

Naturally, after wrestling enough rhubarb to feed a small army, we felt we’d earned a treat. Enter: a rhubarb matcha lemonade from Heaven Scent. Research purposes, obviously.

Meanwhile, Scotland continued to be Scotland. We enjoyed thunder, lightning, torrential rain, brilliant sunshine and a few moments where all four happened simultaneously. The skies have certainly been keeping things interesting.

Back in the market garden, we’ve harvested our very first sugar snap peas of the season and honestly… they’re incredible. Sweet, crunchy, juicy and dangerously easy to snack on while picking. Lauren and Lou did a fantastic job bringing in the first harvest!

Elsewhere, Marcy spent some quality time cuddling Hugo, and Hugo spent some quality time being cuddled by Marcy. The arrangement suited both parties perfectly. This little chap continues to charm absolutely everyone he meets.

There has also been an awful lot of rotavating, grubbing, bed-prepping and generally persuading the ground to behave itself as we prepare for the next wave of planting.

We’ve also been busy trialling new products in the horsebox, working with a new bakery, and finding space for a few more of our own creations too. It’s exciting, slightly chaotic, and involves more taste-testing than we’re willing to admit.

And amongst all of that, we’ve been running farmers’ markets, attending shows, harvesting, planting, delivering, packing and trying to keep all the plates spinning.

Truthfully? We’re tired. Properly tired. But we’re also incredibly grateful.

Every week we’re reminded how lucky we are to grow food for this community, to meet so many wonderful people at markets, and to spend our days doing work we genuinely care about.

We hope it shows. We hope you can taste the determination.

Previously, by a Monday or Tuesday, we’re usually pretty sold out of some of our most popular items in the Horse Box. But we’ve been working really hard behind the scenes to improve our supply of everyday favourites — and it’s paying off!

🥚 Eggs are now available every single day. We finally have enough, so there’s no need to rush in at the weekend.

🐖 Our freezer is always stocked with rare breed pork.

🍰 We’ve even still got cakes available this week if you’re looking for a little sweet treat.

🥐 Pastries and bread are still available too. We’ll be popping any remaining fresh stock into the freezer this evening, which means there will always be bread available for you throughout the week. If you’re looking for a loaf, have a peek in the freezer.

The message is simple: don’t just visit us at the weekend!

There’s plenty to choose from all week long, and every visit makes a huge difference to us. We’d love to see you.
