PADS (Perthshire Abandoned Dogs Society) was first formed in 1985 by a concerned group of people who We are delighted to be so well supported in our local area.
Generous donations of food and bedding allow us to put our much needed funds towards utility bills, maintenance and veterinary needs. If you wish to donate to us we have donation points in Perth, at Jollyes, McCash's Country Store and Pets at Home. Please shop locally if you can! Our vet, Tay Valley Vets, Whitefriars, will also accept donations for us to collect by prior arrangement. Monty 💙
We are thrilled to share the latest update from Monty's new Dad, Phil. We don't need to say much, Phil's words will hopefully make you smile as much as us 💜
"Just fed and dreaming of deer.
I think Monty is happy. Everyone we meet comments on how good [and gorgeous] he is. He relaxes more now and does not have to follow me around every single second - most but not every single one. Never known a dog more excited for a walk and so I get to watch the sun come up most days. He gets to see deer and wabbits most mornings, so his nose and brain stay busy."

Dog walker Aimee started walking through her employer Aviva; she enjoyed it so much that she asked if she could make it a regular thing. She's now on week 3 and has very kindly started photographing the dogs, it looks like the dogs like our latest volunteer too! :)

Dodge's DNA 🧬
So, you may all remember the six dogs that were brought to our kennels having been "found" at the roadside. There were two female Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and four little mixed boys, we were fairly confident one of the girls was Mum but we couldn't justify the cost of a DNA test.
Lucky for us, Dodge's lovely parents got his and have kindly shared them with us. Picture one is a recent photo of Dodge and his pup cup, picture 2 a full body image and picture 3 is the DNA profile. Seems we weren't wrong about the girls being mother but what a wee mix!
DNA testing is great for understanding behaviours of mixed breed dogs and potentially for understanding any breed specific health matters.

Fire Walk
Let's walk on fire to raise money for PADS, early November, cold damp nights and days means our electicity bills increase exponentially. We're looking for fire walkers to join us, gain sponsorship and help raise as much money as possible.
Thank you to Lindores Abbey Distillery for hosting and organising a fundraising fire walk for PADS, in association with BLAZE.
All participants will have to pay a participation fee of £45.00 to the distillery and we'd love if each participant would then raise a minimum sponsorship each of £100.00 using our Just Giving campaign or indeed the participants preferred collection method.

We really enjoyed our last trip up to Denhead, Coupar Angus.
If you're free next Saturday pop in for a nosey, it'll cost nothing but the fuel to get there!
The farmstand has some gorgeous fresh local produce so you can buy some healthy local veggies or meats and support a small business too!
The dog show promises to show some wonderful breeds of dogs.
And just down the road a bit the park at Coupar Angus is great fun for kids too!
