What’s on at the Sensory Hub this week? 👀💜

We’ve got a varied week coming up from 14–18 September, with opportunities to get active, connect with others and access support. Activities include Accessible Swimming, ChairTastic, a Boccia taster session, plus our regular Sight and Hearing Loss drop-ins.

Please note there are no activities scheduled at the Sensory Hub on Thursday 17 September.

What a brilliant morning at ! 🛶🏹🪓

This week, the VisionPK team joined some of our service users for a fun-filled morning in Perth, taking on canoeing, axe throwing and archery.

There were plenty of laughs, lots of encouragement and more than a little friendly competition along the way! It was a fantastic chance to try something different, build confidence and enjoy time together in the great outdoors.

A huge thank you to the team at Willowgate Adventure Centre for making everyone feel so welcome and helping make the morning such an enjoyable one. 💙

We’re already looking forward to the next adventure!

As part of Funeral Link's expansion into Tayside, aided by NHS Tayside Charitable Foundation funding, we have met many organisations in Perth & Kinross in the last week, including Perth and Kinross Citizens Advice Bureau, VisionPK and PKAVS Carers Centre and, yesterday, Reid met Katrina Hartnett at Perth Crematorium (Perth and Kinross Council). Every day a new ally!

🎁Tombola Donations Urgently Needed! 🎁

We are looking for donations for our upcoming fundraising tombola on Saturday 29th August.

We would be very grateful for:

• New children’s games and toys
• Unopened bottles of toiletries
• Soft drinks, juice, sauces and other sealed bottles
• Wine or spirits

All money raised will help VisionPK support people living with sight and hearing loss across Perth and Kinross.

Donations can be handed into the Sensory Hub, 17–19 George Street, Perth, PH1 5JY - We are open 9am-5pm on Thursday and 9-4.30pm on Friday closed 12-1pm for lunch.

The 7 week block of sessions start again on Tuesday the 25th of August 12pm - 1pm at Perth Leisure Pool. There is a small fee per session.

What an amazing debut for Perth West End bowler, Garry Ritchie - pictured on the right - who competed in our Fair City Games Perth & Kinross Disability Sport Lawn Bowls championships in Blackford yesterday in the category for bowlers with a vision impairment.

I met Garry earlier this year at a VisionPK celebration event and got chatting - Garry asked about trying bowls 🧿

From there, we introduced Garry to the team at his local club where Stewart McKenzie - pictured on the left - and Colin MacNab - middle - supported Garry through different techniques to help him play.

Yesterday, Garry qualified through the group stage at his first competition and eventually finished in 4th place amongst a very strong peer group.

Well done Garry and looking forward to seeing you perform and progress on the green in the years to come 👏🏻👏🏻
