Scone Thistle Reds 1-1 Ferry Athletic

Today we were back in league business with a home tie against Ferry Athletic. Playing into the strong wind we didn’t have a lot of clear cut chances but our best one came when we were awarded a free kick just outside the box and wide right, up stepped Jamie who sent a brilliant effort towards goal which smacked off the crossbar and was cleared to safety.

At the other end we had Todd to thank when he pulled off a brave double save at the feet of the ferry strikers.

On the 32nd minute we opened the deadlock when Stevie did brilliantly to rob Ferry of possession midway in their half, beat a couple of players and slammed a shot off the post, John reacted fastest to hit the rebound into the back of the net. H/T 1-0

Into the second half and Ferry would draw level from the penalty spot with a well taken effort. We thought we should have had a penalty of our own midway through the second half when Taz went on a a jinking run and as he broke into the penalty box he appeared to be fouled but the referee waved play on. As the game drew to a close our best chance came from an inswinging corner that was met by a smart glancing header from Stevie that flashed narrowly wide of the far post.

A draw was probably the right result in a scrappy game today.

Today’s man of the match went to Stevie who showed 2 or 3 glimpses of quality with his footwork in the game including great work to set up the opening goal, well done Stevie!
