Butterfly houses and flower dissections 🤩

This month's funded STEM Session at Letham4All was all about biology and nature.

🦋 Build and decorate a butterfly house to keep
🌻 Dissect a flower to learn how they reproduce
🐝 Learn why we need more pollinators

Funded Through STEM Squad CIC and Perth and Kinross Council Fairier Communities Funding.

I don't often shout about my achievements:

⭐️ I'm a qualified teacher
⭐️ Awarded Child Activity Provider of the Year 2025 UK North
⭐️ BSc (Hons) Physics

But these all pale in comparison to getting a "Being our Best" sticker from P1 in Methven Primary School 🤯

Then, when you think you've peaked 2026 already, TWO kids say I've inspired them to be scientists 🤯🥼

What a week!

It's been a busy few weeks teaching everything from Nursery STEM to Higher Physics, and I've forgotten to get many photos.

STEM Squad Summer STEM Tip #1: Use ice lolly sticks as plant labels

Grab some cherry tomatoes
Squash one up
Remove seeds
Sieve and wash to remove protective jelly
Plant in soil
See if you can grow your own tomatoes

*these are week old pea shoots from dried peas

Kids are more likely to eat veg they helped grow, and it is a great way to learn about MRS GREN 🌞🌸

And just like that, the last of my Nat5 Physics tutees have finished their tutoring and ready to smash the test tomorrow.
