Tesco Perth Edinburgh Rd - Community

Did you know that any fit for human consumption food that does not sell by the end of its shelf life we donate to local charities? This happens every night and we have given thousands of meals to Perth people that need it, that would otherwise have gone to landfill. Here’s an example from last night of our donation to Letham 4 All!

Sometimes looks like a crate of apples. 🍎

Before the doors opened for our first session of the week this morning, we had a lovely delivery from our friends at Tesco Edinburgh Road.

Their , Jane, arrived with a crate full of fresh apples for us - very gladly received by Moira and ready to offer as a healthy little sweet treat to clients visiting Perth & Kinross Foodbank HQ today. 🍏🍎

Of course, Jane has a bit of a foot in both camps...

As well as being Tesco Edinburgh Road's , she also happens to be one of our fabulous Wednesday . 💜

It's like this that make such a difference to our work.

When and their people really get to know Perth & Kinross Foodbank, they understand what we do, what our clients might appreciate and where an opportunity exists to help.

Sometimes that's a large or .

And sometimes it's simply:

"We've got some apples - could you use them?"

The answer today was a very definite YES PLEASE! 🍎🙌

A big to Tesco Edinburgh Road for continuing to support us, and to Jane for being such a wonderful bridge between our two organisations.

The apples are already heading home with clients today.

Summer Foodbank donation bags are now live at the front of store for the next 8 weeks. These help boost donations which will enable Foodbank to provide support to vulnerable families during the school holidays

But for us, are about far more than getting food from A to B.

They help people carry essentials home safely.
They offer privacy and .
They reduce visibility at a moment when someone may already feel .

Because although we have come a long way in challenging around foodbank use, the reality is there is still work to do.

At Perth & Kinross Foodbank, lives in the details.

Last year alone, we used thousands of bags supporting households across Perth and Kinross. During busy sessions, hundreds can be needed in a single week. are not simply packaging - they are part of the experience of support and a practical expression of dignity

A strong handle.
A little privacy.
The to walk home.

Small things. .

Our supplies are beginning to dwindle again, so if you’re able to help, we would be incredibly grateful.
