Rachel is a Freelance Groom based slightly across the Border in Northumberland but does also cover some of the Eastern Areas of the Scottish Borders.
She left school at 17 to study an apprenticeship down in Suffolk on a Riding Centre after only starting to ride at 15 with a neighbour but has always been brought up in the countryside and been horse mad for as long as she’s known. She has been self employed sine 2012 and has got a great variety of clients.
As well as being a Freelance Groom doing yard duties, clipping, exercising, teaching and event and race grooming Rachel also spends time house sitting peoples animals when they go away on holiday.
When Rachel isn’t working (which is very rare) you will find her with her own Jack Russell Maple who was actually bred across in Peebles, listening to country music or at a show!

Peebles March Riders has been part of my life from a very young age. From taking part in events growing up, to spending many years on the committee, horses and the traditions surrounding them have given me some of my very best memories.

Tomorrow, our 2026 Whipman Campbell Forsyth will lead a small group of riders out the parishes and head towards Stobo Hope, where they’ll meet up with riders from Biggar and Peebles.

Campbell will then swap spurs and share a drink with the Cornets of Biggar and Peebles as they celebrate their respective summers in office! 🥂🐴
