🌡️ Extreme heat is a workplace issue.
As temperatures rise, so do the risks.
Heat stress, dehydration, sunburn, heat stroke and fatigue can all lead to serious illness, accidents and injuries—whether you work indoors or outdoors.
Employers have a legal duty to assess and manage these risks by providing:
✅ Regular breaks
✅ Access to cold drinking water
✅ Suitable clothing and PPE
✅ Shade for outdoor workers
✅ Good ventilation and cooling indoors
Know the signs of heat-related illness: dizziness, headaches, muscle cramps, nausea, confusion and excessive fatigue. If temperatures are affecting your health and safety at work, raise it with your manager, safety rep or union representative.
Everyone deserves a safe and healthy workplace—whatever the weather. ☀️

🦺 Furious at seeing their bosses and all office staff taking 10% bonuses when they’ve been offered less-than-inflation payrises, workers at Vossloh in Scunthorpe have downed tools.
🚉 GMB members at Vossloh make products vital to some of the UK’s largest rail infrastructure projects, and they are prepared to be out for as long as it takes. The company needs to come back to the table, and fast.
