That’s Ivy Matthews, Nottingham’s very first female Lord Mayor.
And today, as we’re getting prepped to sing at Lord Mayor’s Day at Nottingham Castle this weekend 🏰🎶, we discovered that Ivy’s grandson comes to our 🥰
From leaving school at 14 to work in a Nottingham chocolate factory, to becoming the first woman to hold this historic role, Ivy was remembered as feisty, determined, humorous and devoted to serving her community. 🥹
We’ve got a soft spot for people who open doors, challenge expectations and show us what’s possible. 🙃
So here’s to Ivy… and everyone who dares to go first! 🥂💛
