Lots of World Cup activities, finding flags to match, sorting facts about different countries.
Investigating pathways - can we blow our ball around it using a straw?
Science experiment - what happens if we drop skittles into different liquids? Prediction and testing.
Lots of questions, teamwork, collaboration and friendship.
We also had two new visitors and as always our children welcomed them to ELF.

This week we will be comparing countries and sorting different facts about those countries.
Can you see which three we have chosen?

This…….💡
Situations and our different experiences in life will impact how we feel, some days we will achieve more than other days, life is filled with moments that can challenge us, empower us, upset us, excite us - each day can be a mix of ups and downs, some small some huge.
Amidst all of this is you and your self worth.
🌟YOU ARE ALWAYS WORTHY 💖

This was a question I was asked about our ELF learning provision on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Yes we do! The children have the opportunity throughout the session to practice yoga using our set of cards. There are also printed cards available for different breathing techniques which we also support with if a child feels overwhelmed.
Sometimes at the end of a session we lie down, focus on our breathing and learn how to relax and soften our bodies.
Our founder, Deb, has many years experience as a wellbeing practitioner so it is an integral part of ELF.

Sessions for our older group are well underway!
‘The Change Lab’ programme is our unique pathway to achieving badges (designed by Kate). The current block is Food Innovators.
We researched using knives safely before chopping and prepping our food for barbecue skewers.
Afterwards we explored the woods, climbing trees and navigating muddy slopes - lots of problem solving amidst the fun!
There were also cows in the field we walked through so being safe around animals was also discussed.
Finally we added today’s activities to our weekly journals.

Yesterday was the start of our ‘World Cup’ theme! We explored different flags, investigated ways of making 11, played football outside, started to design our own team kits, and we made some interesting outdoor observations- hardened sap on the tree trunk, helicopter leaves, gooseberries and even some tiny mushrooms!
It was also wonderful to welcome 3 new visitors to ELF and watch the children helping to make sure they felt included and comfortable.
An important part of ELF is personal and self development along with clear, kind communication and we spent time working out how to agree on the rules of different games - not always an easy concept!

We will be starting with a visit to the local library to gather facts and information, looking at the world map, designing flags and exploring different ways of making number 11…….but why?!
