Jakob enjoying his weekly session with Guy 😊
Just look at those smiles! Their bond has grown so much over time, and it's always a pleasure to see the connection, trust, and enjoyment they share during their sessions.
Working with children is about so much more than therapy goals. It's about building confidence, creating positive experiences, and making every session engaging and fun. Through play, laughter, and meaningful activities, children often achieve more than they realise.
There’s never a dull moment when Jakob and Guy are together, and it's clear that they both look forward to their weekly sessions. Moments like these remind us how important relationships are in helping children thrive.
Keep smiling, Jakob!💙⭐😊

How many exercises can Maz do at once? 💪👏
Maz is multitasking like a pro during her therapy session!
🦴Standing for an extended period to support bone and muscle strength
💪Using resistance bands in functional movement patterns to build arm strength
🏋️♀️Challenging her core stability by maintaining her posture without using her arms for support
Three goals, one exercise, and plenty of determination! Great work, Maz! 🌟

✨ The Science of Feeling Good ✨
Your brain has its own natural pharmacy - and it’s completely free 💫
Occupational Therapists (OTs) know that you don’t always need medication to boost your mood. Endorphins, your body’s “feel-good” hormones, can help reduce stress, ease pain, and lift your overall wellbeing 🙌
💡 Easy Ways to Boost Your Endorphins:
💃 Move together: Group workouts, dance classes, or team sports = bigger mood boost thanks to social connection
🏃♀️ Get active: Power walks, swimming, hiking, or HIIT are top-tier endorphin triggers
🌶️ Eat for happiness:
• Spicy foods = endorphin rush 🌶️
• Dark chocolate (70%+) = instant reward 🍫
• Ginseng = natural boost 🌿
☀️ Soak up sunlight: Just 20 minutes can increase serotonin + endorphins
😂 Laugh & listen: Belly laughs with friends or your favourite music = instant lift 🎶
OTs help you turn these small habits into a lifestyle - so feeling good becomes your new normal 💛
Ready to build your feel-good routine?

🥖 Focaccia Friday 🥖
There's nothing quite like ending the week with freshly baked sourdough focaccia!
A huge thank you to Jon, who treated the PhysioFunction team to his homemade sourdough focaccia today. Fresh from the oven and absolutely delicious, it certainly didn't last long! 😋
We're lucky to have such a talented baker on the team. Keeping the team well-fuelled is clearly another one of Jon's many skills! 👏
Happy Friday everyone – we hope you're heading into the weekend with something equally tasty to enjoy.

🌟 The benefits of standing therapy 🌟
For Clare, using a standing frame provides support to maintain an upright position for longer periods than she is able to achieve independently.
Being in standing not only promotes good postural alignment and extension, but also creates valuable opportunities for engagement. It enables Clare to make eye contact and interact more easily with her therapist, mum and carers, helping to support communication and social connection.
Standing also encourages greater freedom of movement through the arms, allowing Clare to participate more actively in activities while benefiting from improved overall body alignment.
Sometimes, the simplest interventions can make a meaningful difference to comfort, function and quality of life. 💚
Wonderful session Clare, well done 👏⭐

After Cauda Equina, something as simple as going out to socialise can take a lot more thought than people realise.
For Clare, it wasn’t just about where she was going - but where she would sit, what the surface would feel like, and how long the journey would take. These are the hidden challenges that can impact confidence and independence.
As part of her recovery, Clare has been working with Kiran on sensory stimulation - helping to reawaken nerves, improve body awareness, and rebuild trust in her movements.
Her programme includes:
✨ Warm water therapy to boost circulation and prepare the skin
✨ Toe exercises like marble pick-ups to strengthen and stimulate nerves
✨ “Toe yoga” to improve joint awareness
✨ Ball rolling for texture stimulation and coordination
✨ Balance work using a wobble cushion
✨ Walking on different surfaces to reconnect with what her feet are feeling
This type of therapy goes beyond exercises - it supports real-life goals. For Clare, that means feeling more comfortable sitting in the car, visiting friends, and simply getting out and about with greater confidence.
Small steps can lead to big changes 🙌
