BRAVEHEART UPDATE: We are broken-hearted, furious, but still fighting with everything we have. ❤️

This morning we were met with a brutal, but very thorough and professional consultation at Bristol Vet Specialists for us and this young lad whose is confirmed to be approximately 8 years of age.

The specialist oncologist confirmed our fears: Braveheart has severe Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC) on his ears. It is unclear at this stage whether the cancer has spread.

The vet was clear—this is by far worst case of skin cancer he has ever seen and that Braveheart, despite his medication, is in excruciating pain.

What cuts deepest is the vet’s assessment that Braveheart has been suffering in this condition not for months, but for YEARS.😡

Years of excruciating pain. Years of sun damage eating away at his sweet face.

Years of being horribly let down, neglected, and subjected to extreme cruelty by being left to rot in plain sight.

To the person who denied being his owner: we know you are.

You should be utterly ashamed of yourself. To look into the eyes of a gentle soul suffering like this and turn your back is a level of cruelty that defies words. You were supposed to protect him. Instead, you let him endure years of agony.

And why nobody contacted us sooner, we’ll never know.

And yet, despite the horror he has endured, Braveheart’s spirit is unshakeable.

He sat through that entire harrowing consultation purring. We had to distract him enough to stop his purrs so that the vet could listen to his heart.💔

He holds no malice. He loves humans. He just wants to be loved…and he wants his dinner…he loves his meal times.

We know some people will criticise us for spending thousands of pounds on one broken cat.

We’ve heard it before.

But at Moggies, we do not measure a life’s worth by its price tag, its age, or how easy the fix is.

Braveheart was ignored and left to suffer alone for years. The very least we owe him—what humanity owes him—is to show him that his life matters, that he is loved, and that we will throw everything we have at giving him a chance.

We are waiting for the final word from the oncologist today on whether surgery is viable or if we have reached the heartbreaking point where further intervention becomes cruel.

They will tell us whether the cancer has spread and whether surgery is a kind and viable option for Braveheart.

We are fighting for a miracle, but if the specialists advise us today that the kindest act of love is to let him go, every penny raised will go directly toward paying his diagnostic and vet bills, ensuring he receives the peaceful, painless end he was so cruelly denied for years (with any surplus helping our other rescue cats).

If they can help him, we push on and get his the surgery he deserves.

The initial consultation, CT scans, heart scans, biopsies, and bloods today alone will be approximately £3,000, and if surgery goes ahead, we are looking at thousands more.

It’s a lot.

But we have to know.

We have to give him every single chance.

As we did for Nigel, Lucy Little Mouse and so many others.

And we are very grateful to Bristol for the charity discount applied to Braveheart’s bill.

Our free Children's Seed Bomb Making event is being held this week at Hirwaun Village Hall between 2pm and 4pm. Bella Rosa will be with us again for bumble bee related crafts where the children can make Bee themed hanging wind chimes or tree decorations.
