A Photographic Club
March Camera Club meets weekly from September until April with a varied programme of competitions, talks on topics of photographic interest, demonstrations and discussions, member participation evenings and various social events.

On the day of the week that the Club meets when in season seems fitting to celebrate the results of the Annual Print Competition held in April 2026.
We welcomed a familiar friend to the club to judge the Annual Print entries, Judge Jonathan Vaines LRPS CPAGB AFIAP and he definitely had a full night on his hands with 6 different categories to Judge and some strong competition πΈ

This year we once again entered the annual East Anglian Federation of Photographic Societies (EAF) Competition πΈ
The club as a whole got 7 Projected Digital Images accepted into the exhibition πΈ
One member had π― success of having 4 out of his 4 digital entries accepted π₯³ well done Roger Newark πΈ
Nigel Lucas, David Hodgson and Amy Fox also had success with all having 1 image accepted into the exhibition πΈ
I have shown the exhibited images below with their Author's names and points scored out of 20 πΈ
If you would like to visit the exhibition, it opened this weekend and runs until Sunday 17th May πΈ
The exhibition is being held at The Apex, 1 Charter Square, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk IP33 3FD and it is always well worth a visit πΈ

Delayed post, on the 9th April the Club enjoyed their Annual Print Competition with Judge Jonathan Vaines LRPS CPAGB AFIAP visiting on the night to give his best feedback to all entries and to pick his 1st, 2nd and 3rd in all categories and the top overall winners, thank you Jonathan, that was not an easy task ππ» πΈ

Delayed post, on Thursday 2nd April we enjoyed our Annual Projected Digital Images competition (PDI'S) πΈ
With 6 different categories in which to shine, it was a tough job for Judge Paul Radden with 132 entries to Judge on the night, it was bound to be a late bedtime πΈ

Delayed post, on Thursday 26th March we enjoyed a presentation from one our clubs long standing members John Band, entitled 'Gypsy Life' πΈ
John has followed the travelling community for years, photographing various fairs including the iconic Appleby Fair in Cumbria πΈ
In 2024 John collaborated with Chatteris Museum and One Voice 4 Travellers and a book was published to document the exploration of a hidden history of Chatteris and it's District πΈ

A delayed post, Thursday 12th March we had guest speaker Jonathan Vaines telling us of the importance of working with projects πΈ
He uses his photography to help with mental well being πΈ
He spoke about his thought processes, and how he executes his images, mainly using in camera multiple exposures and blend modes πΈ
He brought a selection of his finely executed prints for us to examine πΈ

There is currently an exhibition at St Wendredras Church in March called 'Water Worlds' it has run from last Saturday 7th March and will continue to run until 1pm on Saturday 14th March πΈ
The Club is proud to be a part of this local celebration of creativity and have set up an exhibition of prints that relate to the 'Water World' theme πΈ
We have exhibited a total of 37 prints, 25 landscape orientations and 12 in portrait πΈ

On Thursday evening we enjoyed our most challenging competition in the calendar, our Annual Panel Competition with our friend of the club Judge Jim Bennett lined up to Judge our images, thank you Jim πΈ
The Prints competition consists of entering 5 separate mounted prints that relate to each other and/or tell a story πΈ
The PDI competition consists of entering 5 digital images that relate to each other and/ or tell a story and then a final 6th image which shows the final panel competition entry with all the 5 images presented πΈ
Both competitions require a lot of planning and work to get the final entries ready, well done to everyone who entered πΈ

March Camera Club was among the 20 clubs who took part in the Annual St Ives Interprint Competition on Saturday 28th February πΈ
Unfortunately, we failed to live up to last yearβs heading position of joint 5th place, instead finishing in equal 12th place, despite only achieving just 2 fewer points than in 2025, a strong competition πΈ
Judge for the 120-print entry was Clive Tanner FRPS MPAGB FIPF AWPF APAGB πΈ
