Paint Layers

Couple of weeks on this kitchen and toilet. Blending in some old and new to make a consistent feel. Ceiling in AF 1 ceiling paint, walls in kitchen F&B Wimborne white and Ammonite white eggshell on woodwork. The toilet was colour drenched in F&B Beverly with woodwork in Ammonite white. Had some help on this one by the owners labs .

Last couple of weeks transforming this gallery stairs. A lot of work is involved in preparing old varnished wood so it's ready to accept paint. If not done correctly it will fail. First it's sanded; primed in a high adhesion paint , filled and caulked, lightly sanded, two coats of under coat and finally two top coats in this case mahogany and brilliant white durable satin. The handrails and newels were then finished in satin decorators varnish.

HSL in an old farmhouse. Lots of preparation required on this one. Lots of cracks needed repairing especially along the coving and stair strings. Plus a large area of blown plaster made its self known in the process of prepping. Woodwork needed some attention in place but generally was sound.

Bare filler was mist coated after sanding then two coats of Mat AF1 were applied to the ceiling. Two-three coats of F&B Wimborne white were applied to the walls. F&B undercoat was applied to all woodwork then two coats of F&B eggshell in De Nimes.

From a few weeks back now. First job of 2026. Bedroom and utility cupboard. Ceiling in Zinsser perma white matt. Bedroom finished in DT Eggshel Goose down and johnstone durable satin on woodwork except door ( being changed). Cup board Magnolia eggshell and woodwork in zinsser perma white

So ended my 2025 season helping my brush buddy Tom Watson Painters, on a few projects. First on was over in Norfolk painting a new build ( early starts and late finishes not my cup of tea!) then onto a lounge in the village. We finished up with a media wall which required al lot of prep and patience.

A couple of odds and ends . Repairs and a freshen up in a rental. Damp and peeling paint to contend with. All sorted.

Freshen up of a lounge. Original colour was white, quite clinical and cold. Some Deluxe white mist and it's much more inviting.

Been a busy few weeks transforming a HSL and Lounge for a repeat customer in Wicken.
HSL was refreshed in durable white DT Diamond on the walls and ceiling and durable Johnstones Aqua satin on the wood work. The feature wall is in DT Heritage Midnight Teal.

Now both rooms are able to stand up to the riggers of grandchildren!

Helped out me old painting buddy( Tom Watson Painters) last week . Commercial lot in Willingham (Cambridge Home and Gardens), extending the Bbq shop.

Quick repairs and touch ups in a rental.

A lot of prep to make good on this one. Rooms were damp treated so walls needed a lot of attention. Lots of sanding; filling and a full skim prior to mist coat. Ceiling finished in Albany AF1, Johnstones durable and Dulux easy care applied to walls (sage green, daffodil white), wood work Johnstones aqua u/c and satin finish.
