Hong Bak
A rich and aromatic Nyonya-style braised pork belly dish, slow-cooked in a fragrant blend of soy sauce, ginger, and spices. Served with jasmine rice.
Ayam Masak Bawang - Chicken or Aubergine
A comforting Malay-style dish, popular in Penang. Chicken or Aubergine simmered in a rich, fragrant onion-based sauce with a touch of spice and sweetness. Served with jasmine rice.

Lor Bak
Five spice pork roll served with sweet chilli and soy sauce.
Roti Jala (v)
Malaysian savoury turmeric crepes - served with a curry sauce.
Ayam goreng
Malaysian Chicken wings fried chicken. Chicken wings marinated in curry paste with lemongrass, galangal, spices, and deep fried in a crispy batter.
Popiah chee (v)
Spring roll filled with beansprouts and mixed vegetables. Served with sweet chilli and soy sauce.
Sambal Udang
Prawns and green beans fried with a sweet and spicy Malaysian chilli sauce.
Ikan Bakar
Torched Mackerel fillet with a Sambal sauce.
Cucumber Kerabu
Spicy Cucumber Salad - a spicy and tangy cucumber, onion, and dried shrimp salad tossed with sambal belacan and lime juice.
Chicken Satay
Lemongrass and galangal chicken skewers with a peanut sauce.

Free event for East and Southeast Asian residents of Manchester aged over fifty
This month's esea ArtClub event is a Congee Pick n Mix, presented in collaboration with Little Yellow Rice Co. Join us for a warm, interactive session where this familiar dish becomes a bridge that connects experiences, sparks dialogue, and nourishes both body and soul.
Attendees will prepare their own bowls of congee and explore a DIY garnish station featuring condiments and herbs from across the ESEA region, from century egg and fried shallots to sambal and pickled vegetables.
Together we will create a collective ‘regional congee map’, noting how congee is prepared in different cultures and exploring the many ways this simple dish carries deep histories of care and community.
