On this Salford renovation project, we’re showing the exact materials we use for a proper tape & jointing and mist coat finish. 🧰

For internal angles we use paper tape, with scrim tape for the rest, followed by BG filler for the first coat and BG Pro-Mix Lite for the final coat. ✅

Once the finishing work is ready, we move on with BG drywall primer and Armstead white paint for the mist coat, giving the surface the right preparation before decoration. 🎨

Correct materials make a big difference to the final result, especially on domestic renovation projects where quality and reliability matter. 🏠

External plasterboard corner — smooth finish or “leave it for the taper, he will sort it”? 😅

Question for the tapers and plasterers: what do you prefer when you arrive on site — corners left rough, or corners properly surformed and ready to finish? 👀

Another progress update from our Salford renovation project! 🏠

After completing the boarding and preparation stages, we have finally started Tape & Jointing. This is Day 1 of the finishing process, and the transformation is already beginning to take shape. Every stage of a renovation has its own challenges, but following the correct method always delivers the best results. 🔧

Proper preparation and attention to detail are essential when it comes to achieving high-quality finishes. What you see here is only the beginning, and there is still plenty of finishing work ahead. 👌

Sometimes on site you see “quick work” that creates even more work later… 😅 One line of screws, half of them too deep, the rest sticking out ready to destroy a plasterer’s trowel or taper’s knives. Quality always shows in the finish 👀🔧

And that mastic squeezed out and left to dry solid in the corner? Now somebody else has to waste time fixing it before taping can even start. Spending an extra 20–30 seconds doing it properly saves headaches for every trade after you 🙌🏗️

Do the job once, do it right, and leave work you can actually be proud of — not a pile of 💩😂

Another update from our Salford renovation project — dabbing is now fully completed and we’re moving closer to the final stages of this phase. 💪

Boarding works are nearly finished too, with only the window head reveals left to complete. These will be mechanically fixed back to the existing timber using packers to straighten and level the line properly before finishing. 📐

Next stage: Tape & Jointing. Once that’s completed, this area will be ready for decoration and we’ll be quickly out of there ready for the next project phase. 🚀

One important reminder from this project — there is always a solution if something doesn’t go to plan on site. Experience and problem-solving matter just as much as workmanship. 👷‍♂️
