Icing Inspiration

Due to home and work commitments combined with escalating costs and tighter copyright etc I have made the decision to stop making cakes as a business. I will still be baking for fun and posting the occasional photo on here but won't be selling anymore. Thanks to everyone for your support and custom over the last 4 years.

I am (deliberately) not doing as many cakes at the moment but really enjoyed this one. Needed to incorporate pirates and a princess and her beast. Excuse the photo quality, lighting is not good for a 3:30am finish!

Here it is, the cake I did just for me :). It was definitely a labour of love- fluffy breeds are definitely harder than smoother coated ones!
Who knows what the dog is?

is going to start a project just because I want to! I have been wanting to make another dog following the golden retriever cake so this time I am going to make one of my favourite (although not very well known) breed- hopefully a few of you will recognise it!

Has been doing some old fashioned baking for my son's birthday. Profiteroles and chocolate yule log (plain sponge with chocolate buttercream filling, ganache coating and a marzipan centre) decorated in a birthday style by the birthday boy's brother- well if you can't have your favourite cake on your birthday.......

I do love it when a plan comes together. The brief for this one was a trumpet (yes I know it looks more like a cornet, it's an issue of scale!) but incorporating other hobbies/ life events/ interests- laborador, South African flag, globe, test tube, wood carving, model war ships, their own canal boat called Le Coquelicot and jazz. This was the idea I came up with to merge them in one cake and I am rather pleased with the result!

Always a privilege to bake a cake for a diamond wedding. This is a traditional marzipan covered and iced rich fruit cake with handmade roses and edible diamonds.

And finally a pink baby rhino for a 1st birthday.
