Phantom re-string
https://sailboatriggingsystems.co.uk/
Not every project is a new set of systems. This Phantom has received a partial restring, replacement mainsheet blocks and rework of the Kicker (Vang).
Why so much string? Why so complex? It's about managing the power.
The Phantom is a niche UK single hander. Designed in the 70's it's a bit of a handful... 14ft, 9.8m² mainsail, 61 kg with carbon spars and foils. Six rig controls enable a competitive weight range front 85 to 120 kg!
It's got oodles of WOW factor!

Thanks for your comments.....It's been really interesting to read the comments this week as our ILCA post has moved through the FB world. Thanks to all of you, genuinely, a fun and interesting read.
The dialogue seems to break into two broad views....
Leave the Laser alone, its a great simple boat as hatched back in the 70's.
Or..... You'd better be careful about reliability if you load it up with modern systems.
It made me reflect on one of my favourite podcasts where the frequently voiced hypothesis is; 'the human condition is to to improve things and make them better'.
I guess the key question is do the current rules make the ILCA better than the original Laser......
My current ride of choice is a UK, very niche, class called a Phantom. I remember seeing the 80's version when sailing my Laser. It had a wood hull, ali mast and Dacron sail. Always overpowered, scarily overpowered and typically sailed by an ex 2nd row! My modern boat with carbon rig, Mylar sail and 7 rig controls now enables an average bloke to join in the fun!
Does the modern ILCA demonstrate a similar evolution over the original Laser and if so does it make for a more accessible boat?
I remember stepping into my first Laser. 10kg under weight, ineffective controls, only one rig size. My first championship was quite an experience! I loved every moment of my Laser transition snd subsequent development.
Is the modern ILCA a better boat?
Is it more fun?
I respectfully suggest that choice of rig size, controls that work and many other finessed details certainly make it more accessible and for some .......more fun.....
What do you think..... please comment. 😉
BTW....we can refit an ILCA with 70's vintage Laser systems if that's your thing.....😎
Also.... check your rivets......🥴

ILCA Control Systems ......now available
We had a productive session this week installing our ILCA Systems which are now in production.
The design is based on tested concepts used at the front of the fleet and by squad boats The first version combines Harken and Allen components with Marlow rope. We're initially building the vang around the Harken Fly base and Zircon Twisted Fiddle.
The ILCA systems are built to order so we can mix and match components and ropes to your preference.
Please take a look at our website for costs.

Case Study: Revitalised Laser 2000....
We've resurrected a series of training boats for a local sailing club. L2000s, Toppers, Feva's and Optimist's.
For this boat we did a focused refresh of new halyards, kicker, outhaul, cunningham, mainsheet jammer and toe straps.
Spec'n focused on value, performance and longevity.
Evo-race 78, Evo-performance Evosheet and a selection of Allen hardware. Spec'n can be fine tuned to reflect budget and objectives.
Well received and good for another c10 years of heavy club use.
