After 36 years you could say I would follow this woman anywhere in the world, from 1) The Needles in Cornwall to (2 rainbows in Riga, Latvia to (3 officially becoming Belize’s first ambassador to Latvia to 4) speaking with WWII veterans to (5 dressing like a clown for a State Dinner in London…and all this just in the last month. Yesterday we celebrated the 36 years on (6 a remote 500km long beach in western Latvia’s Kolka Peninsula with not another soul in sight surrounded by Riga Bay to the west and pine forests full of storks and woodpeckers to the east. If you want to know who is the smarter person in this relationship, just ask who got the better deal. I must be a genius…

The Blue Hole is the place to see sharks. I stayed about 10 minutes after this shot before the sharks began getting a little frisky. Such beautiful, perfectly adapted creatures.

I spent a week at WildTracks in northern Belize, an organization that rehabilitates wildlife, mostly howler monkeys and manatees. This is one of my favorite shots of two young howlers playing. One fell off the bed they were playing on and the other lent a helping hand to get him back up.

And this why we need FCD (Friends for Conservation and Development, the NGO that manages the park and patrols the border) in the Chiquibul. The top photo is looking west into Guatemala; the bottom photo is immediately looking east into Belize, with some clearing by illegal Guatemalans being shown. FCD works with the BDF (Belize Defense Force) to protect our borders. They need all the support we can give them, including the Forestry Department and logging operations in the area. Underground wonders of Belize.

The Sahara dust clouds mixing with smoke from the fires in the Mountain Pine Ridge and the surrounding countries , combined with the heat can make it difficult for the young and old, and those with respiratory illnesses to breath. Climate change is real, is now, and should not be ignored in our beautiful country.
