Festive events at MathsWorld London!

This festive period join MathsWorld in unearthing the mathematical secrets behind London’s Bankside region.
* Will you be fooled by classic Elizabethan dice games?
* What mathematical structures govern the architecture of the Bankside?
* Is there maths to be found in Shakespearean verse?

Broadcaster Johnny Ball, Author Rob Eastaway, and the local Kirkaldy’s Testing Works have all contributed to the Bankside Mathematics area this Christmas

Meet the Enigma Machine – An Armistice Day Celebration At MathsWorld on the 11th of November.

This Armistice Day, Courtesy of Government Communication Headquarters (GCHQ), the most famous of coding devices, the Enigma machine, will be visiting MathsWorld London.

Join MathsWorld’s Dr James Grime alongside GCHQ in exploring the story of Alan Turing and the Enigma machine and look at how cryptography has moved on with the mathematics behind a public key exchange (Diffe-Hellman).

This is a particularly pertinent year for a talk on Engima, as we celebrate the 80-year anniversary of the end of World War II. Alan Turing is best remembered as one of the leading code breakers of Bletchley Park during World War II. It was Turing's brilliant insights and mathematical mind that helped to break Enigma, the apparently unbreakable code used by the German military.
