Use AI Safer & Better: 6 Rules To Live Buy

To use generative AI effectively one must move beyond simple search engine habits.

Adopt these 6 core rules for using AI safely.

02/09/2025

💡In simple terms, this is asking AI chatbots (like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini etc) for what you need. It's about talking to AI chatbots in a structured way so it can create the best response for you in a reliable manner.

❓ So how do you actually write a good prompt?

If you are new to prompting, I suggest the RTCF framework. R - Role: Define the role, persona or expertise you want the AI tool to assume. T - Task: Clarify the objective & goal of the task. C - Context: Give background info (rememeber the AI tool doesn't know anything about you). F - Format: Specify the structure for the response and tone to ensure clarity and relevance. Example prompt: "You are a business strategy consultant. Draft a professional document for an internal strategy planning session focused on developing a 3-Year Plan. Structure the document as a strategic plan agenda. Include the following sections Objectives, Implementation Roadmap and Team Roles & Governance and a list of action items. The tone should be strategic and professional.” Another framework is RTCCOOE for structuring prompts. Thank you Heather Murray. R - Role: This defines the persona or identity the AI should adopt, such as "a marketing content manager". T - Task: This specifies the core action or objective the AI needs to achieve, for example, "your task is to develop...". C - Context: This provides all necessary background information relevant to the prompt. C - Constraints: These are specific limitations or conditions that the AI should adhere to. Examples include specifying required publication dates for sources (e.g., after January 2024, with preference for 2025 publications). Constraints are crucial for guiding the AI and ensuring desired quality and relevance in its output. O - Output: This clearly outlines the specific format, content, or type of response expected from the AI. E - Evaluation: This final component involves requesting the AI to provide additional information, such as rating its own confidence (from 1 to 10) in its assertions or key points within its response. And this post please: There are other types like zero shot and few shot prompting and these are: Zero shot: When you ask the model to perform a task with no examples. You rely on the model’s general training to know what to do. Few shot: When you provide a couple of examples in your prompt to show the AI the exact format or style you want.

Once you are comfortable with basic prompting, the next stage would be advanced prompting and this becomes essential when you move beyond simple, straightforward tasks and need AI to handle high-stake work. Advanced prompting would include self-checking mechanisms - asking the AI to review its own work, consider alternative approaches or identify potential errors.

Prompting is a skill. It gets better with practice! 👌

Curious About AI But Not Sure Where to Start?

Here's What to Expect in 2025 📢

If you've been hearing more and more about "AI" but aren't quite sure what it means for you, you're not alone. The world is changing fast, but that doesn’t mean it has to leave you behind.

As we head into 2025, AI (Artificial Intelligence) isn’t just about robots or tech experts. It’s becoming part of our everyday lives, from helping us write emails to organising family photos and even offering health tips. Whether you’re retired, running a small business, or simply trying to stay up to date, here's a breakdown of what’s coming and how it could actually make life easier.

📌AI That Understands More Than Just Words
New systems can now read pictures, videos, and even sound, not just text. That means you could show an AI a photo of an old family recipe, and it might help digitise or improve it. Or describe a scene, and it could create a picture or video for you.

📌AI Assistants That Actually Get Things Done
Imagine having a digital helper that can book appointments, write thank you notes, or sort your email, all while asking smart follow up questions like a real person. This is called Agentic AI, and it’s coming to phones, tablets, and computers in the near future.

📌Smarter Tools for Work and Everyday Life
If you use tools like Microsoft Word, Gmail, or even Zoom, expect them to get new AI-powered features built right in. They’ll help you write more clearly, take notes during meetings, or summarise a long email thread you missed. No need to learn new software, it’ll be part of the tools you already use.

📌Private and Safe AI Options
Worried about privacy? You’re not alone. That’s why many companies are working on AI you can run directly on your phone or computer, without sending your data to the cloud. These tools are smaller and faster, but still powerful enough to help in real-time.

📌AI in Health and Wellness
AI is now helping doctors spot diseases early, assist with diagnoses, and even analyse your health data (like from a smartwatch).

📌AI That Fuels Creativity
Want to write a family newsletter, create a birthday video, or even try your hand at digital art? AI tools can now help you create music, stories, images, or even cartoons, no tech skills required. Just your ideas.

📌Learning, Your Way
Many of the newest apps are built with older adults in mind, offering voice-guided instructions, larger buttons, and easy-to-use designs. And yes, there are plenty of free ways to get started.
That’s where Learn AI Lab comes in.
