We're here for the people behind the music.

Led by Chris Difford, Help Musicians Ambassador and Principal Ambassador for Music Minds Matter, last month Help Musicians supported 15 musicians to attend a songwriting retreat at Pennard House, Somerset.

It was an opportunity for musicians to focus solely on their craft, shake up habits and push boundaries, highlighting just some of the many varied ways we work with and support musicians!

One weekend.
Hundreds of venues.
Thousands of artists.

Tell us which venue you'll be supporting this June.

Bonus points if you've got a favourite memory from that venue.

Over the weekend our Trustee Sam Jackson completed an epic event, running 118km in the Isle of Wight Ultra Challenge.

Thanks to almost 300 people who donated to his fundraiser, Sam has raised over £16k for Help Musicians.

This was not an easy challenge. It required endurance, long hours of training, resilience and a passionate commitment – similar experiences and qualities held by professional musicians today.

We are so grateful to Sam for dedicating his time to raise these funds which will directly support the wellbeing and career development of musicians of all genres across the country. Thank you, Sam!!

The 2025 Annual Report and Accounts for Help Musicians and Music Minds Matter has been published!

For over a century, Help Musicians has been a vital friend to musicians, helping them to navigate challenges and build sustainable careers. In 2025, more than 13,000 interventions were delivered, supporting careers, health and wellbeing. This would not have been possible without the generosity of donors, partners, and everyone who gives their time, expertise and resources.

As pressures on musicians continue to grow, the importance of Help Musicians work only increases. If you believe in a world where musicians can thrive, please consider supporting the charity.

Many neurodivergent musicians have strong creative abilities, but can find it challenging to build sustainable structures around that creativity.

Increasing understanding across the music industry can help create conditions where neurodivergent musicians are able to contribute in ways that are both meaningful and sustainable.

Further information can be found at neurodivergentmusicians.com. If you work in music and are struggling, you can also call the Music Minds Matter helpline on 0808 802 8008.

If you want to learn more about the experience of neurodivergent musicians, read Jon’s full article: https://www.helpmusicians.org.uk/about-us/news/building-sustainable-paths-for-neurodivergent-musicians Jon Hart

Good luck to Davide, who is running the for us this Sunday!

On choosing Help Musicians, he says: “I'm a musician myself, and music is my passion. I also lost a colleague, friend, and incredibly talented musician in the past, and Help Musician was the chosen charity the family decided to fundraise for at the time."

On what would have been Queen Elizabeth's 100th birthday, we're celebrating both her and her commitment to music, and sharing some finds from deep within our archives, including a concert programme from our St Celia's Day event in 1946!

Did you know Queen Elizabeth II first became our Patron in 1953, with her involvement dating back to the Second World War? She would attend several lunchtime concerts organised by Myra Hess, at a picture-less National Gallery in London with her Mother, Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, and sister, Princess Margaret!

In fact, these events were so important to the Queen, that her private secretary once wrote “The Queen looks back to her visits to the National Gallery Concerts as some of the happiest hours of the dark times through which we have passed”.

Throughout her life, she continued to support Help Musicians and attended numerous events, including a number of Royal Concerts.

Paul Ablett, a former musician, has been actively involved in the music industry and artist management for over thirty years, and will be hosting our next Business Skills session. On the session he says:

“The most important professional relationship for an artist is with their manager. They are your gate keeper, buffer zone, and your trusted confidante all in one.

Formats and technology might change but this relationship is timeless. I will explore this dynamic collaboration beyond the day-to-day roles.”
