Family Rights Group is taking part in this year’s London Legal Walk on Tuesday 9th June.
A team of staff, trustees, friends and supporters will hit London's pavements to raise money for justice. If you are able to make a donation of any size we would be very grateful - all funds support our vital advice service for families involved in the child welfare and family justice system.

In this vlog to promote our film for parents with learning difficulties and disabilities we hear from Kyle, a member of Family Rights Group’s parents’ panel.
Kyle talks about:
• his experience of how difficult it can be for families to understand the language that social workers use, and
• how the film is designed to help parents with learning difficulties and disabilities understand what they should be able to expect, when a child and family social worker becomes involved in their child’s life.
Kyle also shares how seeing our film might have helped him.

Kinship carers are grandparents, aunts and uncles, brothers and sisters, other relatives, or friends.
Stepping in to raise a child who can’t stay at home, can turn life upside down.
Many kinship carers tell us that they feel overwhelmed by child welfare processes at a time when they are also having to deal with difficult emotions both for themselves, the child and other family members.
That’s why Family Rights Group runs a free kinship carers forum. You don’t have to work everything out on your own. You can join a community of other kinship carers who understand what it feels like to be in the same situation.
The forum allows you to:
• Ask questions
• Learn from other people’s experiences
• Get online advice from our advisers
• Stay anonymous if you want

Families involved with children’s services can sometimes feel practitioners or managers are making all the decisions. Or that the family does not have much say. A family group conference is a planning meeting led by the family and arranged by an independent person. The process ensures that families are at the centre of decision-making.
Take a look at our advice resources on family group conferences:

We offer free specialist advice to parents and carers. Our advice resources will help you to understand what family group conferences are for, what happens at one, and how family group conferences are different from other meetings.
In case you missed it!
Our film, created with and for parents with learning difficulties and disabilities, has an important aim: to help parents understand what to expect when a child and family social worker becomes involved in their child’s life.
We're proud to share this special vlog from Vicky. Vicky stars in the film and is also a committee member at Speakup, a self advocacy group run by and for people with learning difficulties and autistic people, who partnered with Family Rights Group to create the film.
In this vlog, Vicky talks about helping shape the script, taking part in the filming, and why this resource is so important for parents with learning difficulties and disabilities who are working with child and family social workers.

“…they know that you’re still here, if ever there’s somebody that they want to talk to.”
This week is the second week of Foster Care Fortnight, a time to celebrate and raise awareness of the different stories across the fostering community.
Every child deserves to feel that they belong and have positive relationships they can turn to throughout life. Our innovative Lifelong Links approach works to make sure every child in care and every care leaver is connected to people who care about them – for life.
Today we are sharing this clip of foster carers Carol and Norman, after being reconnected with a young person, through Lifelong Links.

"I would like to be treated like it is ok to be who I am".
In case you missed this patchwork of real voices and real experiences gathered from children and family members on our panels who identify as neurodivergent or neurodiverse.
We asked them:
• How do you think others see you?
• How do you see yourself?
• How would you like to be treated?
• What do you enjoy about being neurodiverse?
Their answers are honest, proud, funny and sometimes difficult.
