What happened in hospitality last week? An update from the CODE bulletin newsletter:
1. EXCLUSIVE: Something new is coming to ALTA in Soho this June as the restaurant’s ground floor becomes Bar ALTA on 23 June. Inspired by the pintxos culture of Northern Spain, the new concept offers a more casual experience, open for both reservations and walk-ins. (photo credits: Milly Kelly)
2. Daniel Rose of Le Coucou and La Bourse et La Vie in New York is coming to London. He'll open Le Perroquet, an all-day French brasserie, at the new St. Regis London in Mayfair this autumn. Robert Aikens will be executive head chef.
3. Merlin Labron-Johnson has relaunched Osip's sister venue The Old Pharmacy as, simply, The Pharmacy, appointing Marc Ackland and Zsuzsanna Toth as joint head chefs. Launching alongside is Pharmacy Field Kitchen, a new catering and outdoor events arm.
4. Romy Gill MBE is taking over The Pem, the restaurant at Conrad London St. James founded by Sally Abé in 2021. Opening this autumn, Romy Gill at The Pem marks Gill’s first permanent kitchen in six years, with a focus on regional Indian cooking.

When it comes to eating out, the CODE team is impressively non-committal. We resist pigeonholing ourselves into a single cuisine or style. Just look at what we got up to this week: one minute we were nibbling dainty amuse-bouches at Orrery by Pierre Minotti, the next we were tearing into a sugared saffron bun from TOAD. We contain multitudes.

Asparagus risotto at Leila’s
Seaweed and lobster dumplings at The Sea, The Sea (up to 30% off food on CODE)

All eyes will be on Sloane Square next month for the arrival of Brasserie Olivia, the first international outpost from acclaimed French restaurant group La Nouvelle Garde. Like the group's stylish brasseries across Paris, Marseille, Bordeaux and Lyon, Brasserie Olivia will be a celebration of French dining, born from La Nouvelle Garde's mission to preserve the French art de vivre and usher in a new golden age of the classic French brasserie.
Brasserie Olivia officially opens on 9 July, but CODE members are invited to get an exclusive first look from 27 June to 1 July, with 50% off food for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Expect French classics including galette complète, steak frites, cassoulet, soupe à l'oignon, crème brûlée and crêpes Suzette, alongside luxurious seafood dishes such as oysters served from the counter and freshly cooked lobster selected from the restaurant's lobster tank. Then slip downstairs to Venus Bar, the restaurant's hidden speakeasy and vinyl bar, for a final drink.
Check the Events section in your CODE app now to book your spot - spaces are limited. Not a CODE member but work in hospitality? Join now on a free trial: https://eu1.hubs.ly/H0w0jlM0
