At I really like lighting and shooting human faces, I thought I would post a few screen grabs from recent shoots.
Starting with this handsome bloke for a corporate, lit with:
- .lighting 100D camera right 5600k into a small/medium lantern to act as light from the big window
- Amaran T2c boomed overhead and slightly camera left 3200k as a warm hair light
- reflector camera left to soften shadows
- Amaran T4c hidden in the back 3200k to bring up the plant camera left

It turns out that timelapsing in central London with a permit is way more fun than without and you get arrested less.

Does anyone have any nifty suggestions on how I can secure the RS2 gimbal to my for on set transport? Has to be quick and easy for the quick jobs that I do.
In this first set up (pictures 1-3) the twisty thing to tighten the amazing super clamp is too low to make a full rotation and the jaws of the clamp are a bit too low to make a good purchase of the gimbal handle anyway.
In the second set up (pictures 4-6) the twisty thing can make a full rotation but the whole thing is a bit overkill and actually not as stable as I would like.
Seems like I just need a longer vertical spigot in the first set-up, do they exist?
Also, check out the slick and simple addition to the cart from in picture 7.

Nice little job tonight filming talking about his score for a new video game, really interesting hearing about the whole creative process.
The image out of the FX6 looks lovely, looking forward to seeing the edit.

"I live streamed another funeral" is not something I would have ever thought about saying a year ago, but here we are.
A wide and a tight angle, top and tailed with a nice photo of the deceased back in their prime, wireless mics hidden around the church, all plumbed into the fantastic Blackmagic ATEM mini Pro.
On both occasions people have said that it has been very nice to be able to allow more people to say goodbye via Zoom, etc.

Today was my first shoot since the middle of March (excluding a multicam livestream, see two posts ago, ha) and it felt great to be lighting interviews and getting the various shots to thoroughly show a scene (it was a corporate shoot).
Seeing the image from the FS700 for the first time in so long reminded me how ready I am to replace it. Hopefully that FS6 will be released this year and I'll get some work between now and the start of next year to pay for it!
This was also my first shoot using our new and it was so handy and saved a huge amount of time between setups. A very good purchase.
I'm really looking forward to more shoots and lighting setups, I always love a good talking head setup!

First shoot in quite a while and it was a multicam live stream, and it couldn't have been more successful.
I must say that the Blackmagic ATEM mini is quite unbelievable. I remember being very impressed with their products back in our SubTV days doing multicam shoots backstage at festivals straight to disk, but this is something else, and so affordable!
Can't wait to do more live streams now!

Been getting some very slow motion control moves in the garden (5 feet over 15 minutes) for a project and the Second Shooter mounted on their 5' Cineslider is a truly amazing combo. Built like a tank and spot on every time.
This is the last of six 15 minute moves but I don't want to stop, they look so good! I have a pair of NT5 condensers on top of the FS700 for a nice stereo sound bed.

Really fun lockdown photoshoot with the lovely and her awesome custom axe edge keytar.
Lighting was the huge 7' parabolic umbrella with front diffuser from above camera left, a tall soft box behind Rosa camera right and a bare flash boomed over top as a hair light. All triggered with plus II.
