We're back with our 8th and final design trends prediction for 2020.

Want to bring one of our predictions to life? Talk to us, we're waiting for your ideas!

8. Styles blend (eclecticism)
Cannot decide which style to go with? Why not all of them! Realism will meet flat, hand drawings will make friends with 3D… there will be no rules and no boundaries.

7. Asymmetry
While some people are anxiously awaiting the decline of this trend, it seems that asymmetry is not going anywhere anytime soon. Perfectly symmetrical designs are already hard to find, but this year asymmetry will be taken to a new level. Designers will do their best to make asymmetrical designs feel balanced and intentional.

6. Calm colour palettes
The colour is dead, long live… colour? In design colour is never really dead, but with time comes change. Bold, vivid colours have been ruling the design world for a few years now, but our eyes need a break. While we will still see bright colours, especially combined with gradients, more soothing colour palettes will emerge. Dark, earthy shades or light pastels will prove refreshing after years of loud colours all around.

5. (Even) bolder typography
If colour is the king, typography is definitely the queen. The power of typography was recognized many years ago and since then its importance has been gradually rising. But in 2020 it will become even bolder. Some designs will rely solely on typography, while others will gently incorporate it into the graphics. We will also see more of deformed typefaces and font + photography blends.

4. Futuristic patterns
We already know that real-life objects can be well represented in design. But what about abstract concepts? Realism will be mostly reserved for photography, whereas abstraction will rule in design. Both flat and 3D design will take a new form. Weird shapes, crazy patterns, abstract forms - get ready for these!

3. Creative gradients
Gradients have been on top of design trends lists for a few years now and it seems that they’re here to stay. But this year we will see them in a more creative form. Instead of being just simple backgrounds, they will now become more artistic and subtle, often used for adding depth to beautiful illustrations.

2. Monochrome
Having a limited colour palette may sometimes prove difficult for inexperienced designers, but it takes real skills to create eye-catching designs using just one colour. In 2020 designers will take on that challenge, once again proving that rules are there to be broken.

Every year after Christmas frenzy is over and the New Year is approaching, people stop for a moment to contemplate the past and visualise the future. We decided to take this opportunity and try to come up with what 2020 might bring in terms of design. Predicting the future is never easy, but in the next days we will be sharing with you 8 trends which we think will rule the design world in 2020!

1. Open composition
There was a time when designers tried to fit all elements into their canvases, leaving little to viewers’ imagination. Now that they have more confidence in their audience, they are able to set their creativity free and make their designs less explicit by hiding some elements behind the screen.
