Shadow

Lest we forget (paraphrasing Sri Aurobindo) you don’t have to take on the shadow of the whole world, 
or wrastle anyone else’s demon, that’s not your job. 
You have your part to play on this spinning planet, you have a mission-quest on the Great Earth, and it 
is to conquer and convert your own shadow. The dark, conniving ego that is trying to prevent 
you from realising your mission, is the very part you need to overcome in order to bring about complete victory. 
And because the key to this triumph is within you, “you can fight it directly, immediately”.

I Kissed The Borg Queen

Fear rises in me like a hellhound: anxiety is a plague fire, sweeping through my dry bones: the black cloud of trauma cloaks me: depression persecutes like a schoolyard bully: despair, that posturing demon, I know him intimately, he crouches outside my mind-doorlooking for a little contact. If I hold the neutral mind, and suspend engagement, I can capture these hellhounds, and train them, and drive them, and transform them into the charity of a book, a film, a play, a podcast, a life.

If I am brave enough to kiss the borg queen (but not be assimilated) I can exchange my great traumas for the coin of Wisdom, freshly stamped from the Royal Mint.
