Our first OPEN DAY is in 3 days! Check out this article from BikeRadar for 3 key ingredients to get the perfect saddle position. https://www.bikeradar.com/advice/fitness-and-training/how-to-get-your-bike-saddle-height-right/

HCSCC OPEN DAY is in 3 days so here are 3 key ingredients to get the perfect saddle position, as listed by BikeRadar:http://ow.ly/QH7h50y8XoM Definitely check this article out!

1) Bike saddle height
2) Saddle fore/aft
3) Saddle tilt

"After adjustments have been made, if you still haven’t found true comfort, keep moving things around. Don’t forget to document your changes, and how your body has responded.

If you’re not finding comfort within a few centimeters of your starting point, it’s likely time to head to your local bike shop to investigate your seat shape and width.

Following [these instructions] provides only a good starting point for setting your bike saddle up correctly. The way you move on the bike, what your lifestyle is like off the bike, and what types of self-care you engage in all dictate how you sit atop and pedal a bike.

Don’t listen to what worked for your friends, listen to your body. If something aches, try something new. If things are good, document the position and leave it alone!"

HCSCC's first OPEN DAY is only 4 days away! Read further for 4 Rites of Passage any road will relate to.

Our OPEN DAY is FREE on Sunday, 2nd February at 9AM. Meet us outside Shenfield Station. Coffee and teas are on us after the casual 20 mile ride.

HCSCC first OPEN DAY is in 4 days. Here are 4 rites of passage from bikeradar.com that every can relate to.

1) Falling off - we have all been there. Wear a helmet as protecting your head is key. Try to aim your fall - Grass is softer than tarmac. Get off the road as soon as you can to avoid oncoming vehicles. Be sure you are healthy enough to ride before getting back on your bike. Once you’re sure you’re okay, get a good shot of any injury. Sharing photos of ‘road rash’ is a definite rite of passage, extra kudos is given for those who’ve managed to rip through Lycra.

2) Road Rage - drivers can be aggressive toward cyclists, even if you are the most careful rider. Take yourself out of harm's way if a car drives aggressively around you. Do not engage as it only escalates things - but do keep a mental note for storytelling purposes later.

3) Going clipless - clipless means riding 'clipped-in' to your pedals. Gravity and the clipless cyclist are not friends. If your bike stops moving forward, it will fall over. Cyclists unused to clipless riding find their perspective suddenly changes: they no longer fear riding fast, but travelling slowly is terrifying!

4) Bonking - Cyclists ‘bonk’ when the body’s reserve of glycogen runs out. People bonk in different ways - some experience headaches, nausea, blurred vision and even shaking. All get a dramatic loss of energy, as they are literally running on empty. To overcome it foods and drinks that return glycogen quickly to the body are essential.

HCSCC OPEN DAY is 5 days away so here are 5 tips for .

OPEN DAY - Sunday, 2nd February, 2020 @ 9AM
Meet outside Shenfield Station
20 mile casual ride with FREE coffee and tea at the finish line.

Here are 5 tips to honour 5 days until our HCSCC OPEN DAY!

1) Safety first - wear a helmet & reflective gear, follow traffic laws, and be aware of your surroundings.

2) Find the right bike for you - choose a bike that fits your budget and it the right size for you. Consider investing in a bike for the road first as they are lightweight and designed for paved bike paths and city streets.

3) Create a habit - like any new physical activity, cycling will push your body. Decide when you are most likely to go for a ride and stick to it! Set goals to encourage yourself, and do your pre-ride prep to prevent any excuses.

4) Join a cycling group - (ahem, HCSCC) This is a great way to learn from other experienced cyclists, get motivated to get better, and make new friends. Plus, if you join a group, you don't have to plan your ride!

5) Try different styles - as you cycle more and more, find out what styles you like best. Is is climbing, sprinting, or time trialing? Try them all! It is all part of becoming a well-rounded cyclist.
