NCT Riverside
We are the charity that supports people as they become parents. https://www.nct.org.uk/get-involved/volunteering
Our vision is that everyone who becomes a parent feels confident, connected, and safe because we believe parents help build the foundations of the future. Every year NCT supports over 250,000 parents on their unique journeys through pregnancy, birth, infant feeding, and into early parenthood. We connect, inform and support parents through our antenatal and postnatal courses, peer support programme

Postpartum Research Study – Participants Wanted
We’re running a research study at the MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit (CBU), University of Cambridge, exploring how postpartum women (3-9 months post-partum) learn to engage the pelvic floor and supporting muscles during gentle movement, and how non-invasive wearable technology may support that learning. The aim is to improve early postpartum support in ways that fit into real-life movement (such as yoga or Pilates), rather than isolated exercises.
What’s involved?
• One session lasting up to 60 minutes (often shorter)
• Gentle seated and standing movements, similar to a Pilates class
• Small, stick-on sensors placed on the skin to record muscle activity
• Optional self-inserted vaginal probe to help validate pelvic floor measurements (surface sensors only is completely fine and equally valuable)
Everything is explained clearly in advance and on the day, and you remain fully in control — including placing sensors yourself if you prefer.
Practical details
• Sessions taking place through March
• Location: MRC CBU, 15 Chaucer Road, Cambridge or Kennington, London
• On-site childcare support available
• Option to contribute via an online survey if you prefer not to attend in person

📢 Calling all parents! Get ready to step into National Walking Month this May with NCT! 🚶♀️👶🚶♂️
Did you know May is National Walking Month? It's the perfect time to get out and enjoy the fresh air, and what better way to do it than with an NCT Walk & Talk?
What is an NCT Walk & Talk? It's simple! It's a relaxed, informal gathering where parents, parents-to-be, and carers can meet up for a walk, chat, and connect. It's a fantastic way to:
Get some gentle exercise – perfect for new parents!
Meet other local parents and build your support network.
Share experiences and advice in a relaxed setting.
Boost your mood with fresh air and good company.
Show your little one the world from their buggy or sling!
Why host one? You don't need to be an NCT member or have participated in an NCT antenatal course! Simply choose a date, time, and a buggy-friendly route in your local area, and invite others to join you. It's a wonderful way to bring your community together and help combat loneliness that can sometimes affect new parents.
Ready to host or join? ✨ It's easy! visit our website to see if there's one happening near you, or even better, why not set one up yourself? We can help you promote it!
Let's make this National Walking Month a time for connection, fresh air, and supportive steps together.
