As November comes to a close, it’s the perfect time to reflect on all the progress made this month. Every worksheet completed, every new word learnt and every problem solved is a step toward becoming a more confident, motivated and independent learner.

Cooking is a brilliant way to practise maths! 🥧

Try this easy Apple Crumble recipe with your child this weekend:

🥄 Let them calculate the ingredients – great for learning units of measurement
🍎 Double or halve the recipe – perfect for practising ratios
⏰ Time the baking – teaches time and estimation

Ingredients:
● 4 large Bramley apples (about 800g) – peeled, cored, and sliced
● 100g caster sugar (plus a little extra for sprinkling)
● 175g plain flour
● 100g unsalted butter (cold, cut into cubes)
● 75g light brown sugar
● ½ teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Method:
1. Preheat your oven to 190°C (170°C fan)
2. Prepare the apples: Place the sliced apples in an ovenproof dish. Sprinkle with caster sugar and a little cinnamon if you like.
3. Make the crumble topping: In a large bowl, rub the butter into the flour using your fingertips until it looks like breadcrumbs.
4. Stir in the brown sugar.
5. Sprinkle the crumble mixture evenly over the apples.
6. Bake: Pop in the oven for 35–40 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling.
7. Serve: Best enjoyed warm with custard or ice cream! 🍨
