Someone close to me got Cancer, the doctor told them to eat organic. Something I had been telling them for years! Thankfully they changed their diet, and the operation and treatment was a success. Eating organic and anti-cancer foods is something we all need to protect ourselves from the contamination of our modern lives.

Chinese lantern fruit, also known as physalis or goldenberry, offers various health benefits including boosting the immune system with vitamin C, aiding digestion through fiber and pectin, and reducing inflammation due to antioxidants like polyphenols and carotenoids. The fruit also contains minerals like calcium and phosphorus for bone health and compounds called withanolides with potential anti-inflammatory and antitumor properties.

Cashew fruits and nuts offer numerous health benefits, including supporting heart health by lowering cholesterol, managing blood sugar levels due to their low glycemic index, aiding in weight management through their fiber and protein content, and strengthening bones with minerals like magnesium and copper. They are also rich in antioxidants, which fight oxidative stress and inflammation, potentially reducing the risk of chronic diseases.

Carb on carb time! ๐Ÿ˜
I love cooking but sometimes I get lazy ๐Ÿ˜ด and that's when couscous saves the day, it actually does NOT agree too much with me but I kinda got addicted during lockdown just because it's so easy to make. Ive been pretty busy the last few days, redoing my old website and trying to but my deadlines that I forgot to do basic stuff like eat and wash, sounds gross๐Ÿคจ but I guess it's kinda gd to get into the productivity zone and all that focus it requires.๐Ÿ˜… Anyway I got so hungry that I needed double carbs potatoes my old favourite, couscous salad and homemade sprouted lentil patties ๐Ÿ˜›

The flowers๐ŸŒผ before the cherry tomatoes!๐Ÿ… Can you see where a new little green tomatoe is forming after the flower? Nature is fascinating! ๐Ÿ˜ฏThis tomato plant grew quickly, I sowed the seeds directly from a fresh cherry tomato (don't buy seeds!!!) In April. The plant grew alot in the last month, I buried banana skins in the soil, ๐ŸŒas tomatoes love potassium, I also soaked banana skins in water and let it brew for a fertilizer. Tomatoes also love to be planted with herbs like basil,๐ŸŒฟ so I have the 2 growing side by side. They also like to grow with borage which was a plant I showed in my last post, which helps to stop any pest. I have no had a pest problem with the tomatoes, totally organic and In a few weeks I'll have some fresh tomatoes!! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ…

Last night's dinner, the nasturiums make it look so pretty
๐Ÿค— the wild nasturiums are in full bloom, some of the flowers are dying off and leaving the seeds, I'm collecting a few for future planting, remember to save seeds you'll never have to waste your money buying seeds!

This plant is edible and medicinal ๐Ÿ˜ฏ
It's a succulent called Kalanchoe and has traditionally been used to treat ailments such as infections, rheumatism and inflammation. Kalanchoe extracts also have immunosuppressive effects.
๐Ÿƒ it has been a blessing because it grows so easily and since everything that has been going on the local markets are closed and fresh vegetables have become very expensive.
๐Ÿ’ซI know that even just a little bit provides alot of medicinal properties so even though I don't have a large patch to grow food I can do what I can. I encourage your to start growing medicinal edible plants all it takes is some soil, light, water and a pot!
