Saving Venice from flooding...
The procedure for raising the mobile barriers of the Mose was started yesterday morning in Venice following the forecast of a rise in sea level of 110 centimetres and 121 cm today. For Saturday there is still no decision, it is only known that it will be a day of bad weather.
The Venetians know well that October and November are the months of high water, (on 29th October 2018 with 156 centimetres and the devastating typhoon of 12th November 2019 with 187 centimetres).

So many elephants! A revered creature in Indian culture… the choice for kings, maharanas… and very well cared for. The god is Ganesh who brings good fortune, protection and a remover of obstacles. 🇮🇳

Palaces, gardens and the most beautiful settings. This one happens to be in an island n the lake. So relaxing here… so peaceful. Jagmandir Palace island is my favourite so far! 🇮🇳 ❤️

Wonderful to watch the sun setting over these palaces! Rajasthan is rather special. Possibly one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. Take a tour with us to see this fabulous country! ❤️

Of all the sights I am most looking forward to it is this… The Palatine Chapel in Palermo. It is a feast for the eyes… so much detail, such bright colours, such artistry… I am always awestruck when entering here.this must be one of the great wonders of Europe… and around 850 years old! Wow!! ❤️

Pompeii… an amazing city captured in a ruinous time warp after the eruption of AD79. It is an extensive site and there’s so much to see… just one of the highlights of my next trip… Grand Tour of Italy & Sicily. Join me on 5 April in Rome for a wonderful Italian journey. The Spanish steps at sundown… beautiful! These steps are not Spanish at all… they should really be the French steps as they were built to lead up to the French church at the top of the hill. The Spanish didn’t pay for them either… and they are quite squarely in Rome, Italy! The real name is the Scalinata di Trinita dei Monti. ❤️
