Gendered Intelligence
We work to improve the lives of trans people in the UK and specialise in supporting young trans, including non-binary, people.
We are a charity that places young trans people from across the UK at the centre of our work.

Do you volunteer your time to support trans and non-binary people waiting for gender affirming care?
We are seeking remote Adult Support Volunteers for our online Eastern Region Waiting List Warriors groups. These online groups support those on the Nottingham and East of England gender clinic waiting lists.
Our support services are run by and for trans and non-binary staff and volunteers, and therefore, you must be trans or non-binary to apply. We’re especially keen to hear from people who have used or have waited for NHS gender services. Not essential, but it’s a bonus if you’re based in the East of England too.
You must be able to commit to approximately 4 hours every 1-2 months and be over 18.

After an incredible 18 years, Gendered Intelligence's CEO, Jay Stewart, will step down in June 2027.
Jay co-founded GI in 2008 and, after almost two decades, he will be moving on to develop exciting new projects.
Jay has played a huge role in shaping the organisation into one of the UK’s leading trans-led charities, and in supporting and advocating for trans, non-binary and gender-exploring people.
Under his leadership, Gendered Intelligence has grown from a small grassroots initiative into a nationally recognised organisation delivering youth and community services, training, advocacy and more.
We will be so sad to see him go, and wish him so much success in what comes next.
The Board of Trustees will oversee the recruitment process for the next Chief Executive over the coming year – watch this space for details.
Gendered Intelligence remains in a strong and stable position, and we’re looking forward to welcoming a new CEO who will build on our work improving trans lives.

We’ve taken the time to fully digest the amended Equalities and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) Code of Practice.
The new Code empowers those who want to exclude trans people from services and spaces and makes life harder for those who want to support trans people.
In our full response, we’ve broken down what’s happening and what the changes mean for services and trans people: the good, the bad and the ugly. Yes there’s some good in there too.

Pride season is nearly here!
We’ve complied a list of all the Trans Prides we can find. Let us know if you know of any others and we’ll share them too.
This is just a list of *Trans* Prides in the UK who have announced 2026 dates – we’ve not included Pride events in general, but of course you are welcome to attend as many Prides as possible!

The amended EHRC Code of Practice has been released.
Lots of people will make claims about what is and isn’t going to happen as a result, and there will be many different interpretations of the Code in the next few days. We urge everyone not to jump to conclusions.
We’re taking time to seek legal advice and understand its impact on trans lives, and on our services. Whatever happens, we’ll never stop creating spaces where trans people thrive and building futures where trans people belong.

We’ve launched a brand-new group for trans parents!
For so long, we’ve heard that parents who are transitioning need a space to come together.
This new space will support trans parents to navigate the complexities of transition while parenting and accessing trans health care, while maintaining caring responsibilities and being a parent.

Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia.
This year’s theme is “At the heart of democracy”, a powerful reminder that truly democratic societies must have full meaningful equity and justice for all.
Across the world Governments are pushing through authoritarian policies and exclusionary legislation that targets trans people, including the EHRC’s Code of Practice here in the UK.
But our communities and allies have the power to fight back through solidarity and collective action. And our communities have the power to nurture us, and bring us joy.
We’ve survived regressive laws and Governments before, and we’ll do it again if we must.
