Welcoming our Summer Interns, Katherine and Hattie! 🚀
We are absolutely thrilled to introduce two incredible new additions to the HealthProm team for the summer! 🌟
📸 Meet Katherine, our Photography and Communications Intern. Katherine is a third-year Ernie Pyle Scholar studying Journalism at Indiana University’s The Media School, alongside Sociology and a minor in Photography. She brings a wealth of experience in photojournalism, investigative reporting with the Arnolt Centre, and communications from the Centre for Rural Engagement. We are so excited to see how she uses her storytelling and creative talents to highlight our community engagement—and we can't wait for her to explore London!
📊 Meet Hattie, our Research and Project Intern. Hattie is currently pursuing her MSc in Global Health Policy at the London School of Economics (LSE). She has already been a fantastic asset, diving into our work supporting Ukrainian and Afghan communities across Islington, Camden, and beyond. In her own words: "I look forward to continuing to learn and help the team throughout the rest of my internship here. Originally from Wales, I love hiking, cooking & baking, and movies!"
Please join us in giving both Katherine and Hattie a massive welcome to the team in the comments below! 👇

✨ A weekend filled with art, community, and inspiration! ✨
Last weekend, our group of Ukrainian families had the wonderful opportunity to immerse ourselves in the vibrant Dulwich Festival.
We started our journey at the historic Dulwich Picture Gallery, soaking in classic masterpieces, before diving headfirst into the Artists’ Open Houses trail. It was incredible to explore the local neighbourhood and discover so much talent—from stunning ceramics and vibrant paintings to intricate glasswork and beautiful quilting.
The highlight of our day? Gathering together in a beautiful, blooming garden for a wonderful discussion about art. A huge thank you to our amazing art tutor, Tatyana Bereslavetz, for moderating such a fruitful and inspiring conversation! 🎨🌿
It was a beautiful reminder of how art brings us all together.

8 Months. 8 Journeys. 1 Shared Success. 🇬🇧✨

Last week, we gathered for the final meeting of our Inclusive Coaching program. It’s hard to believe it’s been eight months since these eight incredible Ukrainian women began their journey with their UK mentors.

Navigating a new career landscape in a new country is no small feat. Through 1-on-1 mentorship, our participants didn't just find professional advice—they found clarity, confidence, and a community.

To our partners and mentors: Thank you for your dedication. To our participants: We are so proud of your growth and can’t wait to see where your paths lead next! 💙💛

At HealthProm we had a fantastic fun at the Wallace Collection! 🎨 Our Afghan and Ukrainian families met at the grand entrance of the museum. Our young visitors had a blast stepping back in time, trying on incredible armour, and unleashing their inner artists with sketching activities. What a wonderfully creative and historical adventure!
Inside the museum, the golden rooms sparkled with paintings, clocks, and shining suits of armor. Tour guide pointed at the beautifully decorated swords and told stories about craftsmen from long ago. We stopped in front of a peaceful painting and some whispered how it reminded them of summers in their home village.
The children wandered together through the galleries, amazed by the enormous paintings and tiny details hidden in the artwork.
Later, the families sat together in the quiet café. They shared tea, sweet cakes, and stories about their journeys to London. Even though their paths had been difficult, the museum gave them a few calm hours filled with beauty, curiosity, and friendship.
As we left The Wallace Collection, we promised to meet again soon — perhaps in another museum, another park, or another city full of stories waiting to be discovered.

On Sunday our team went to busy streets of London to support our amazing trustee, Aliya Boranbayeva, who run her first Marathon for HealthProm promoting our work and raising funds, so we can help vulnerable children, women and families to fight social exclusion and forced displacement. Thank you, Aliya! Great cause and astonishing achievement!
Aliya says: “I ran my first marathon in London. 5:33 finish.12 weeks of training.
Injuries, flu, and a lot of doubt along the way.
And if I’m honest – the biggest surprise was myself.

Standing at the start line with 60,000 runners (a record year), I didn’t feel ready.
I felt uncertain, underprepared – and intimidated.

But here’s what this experience reinforced:
- Most limits are self-imposed.
- Somewhere during those 42.2 km, I realised I had significantly underestimated what I’m capable of.

It was a hot day in London, far from ideal conditions for me. But what carried me through was simple:
- A clear WHY (myself, my family, HealthProm, and a city that shaped a decade of my life)
- The energy of people showing up and supporting, every step of the way
- The decision to keep moving, even when it felt uncomfortable
That shift matters – far beyond running.
Because whether it’s a marathon, a career move, or building something new, the pattern is the same:
- You don’t start when you’re fully ready.
- You start, and discover what you’re truly capable of along the way.

Grateful for everyone who supported and believed💗”

A celebration of hope, tradition, and community. 🌿✨

On April 4, our HealthProm family came together to celebrate Nowruz, the Persian New Year, with the Afghan refugee community we support. It was a day filled with the scents of spring and the warmth of togetherness.
It was a joyful occasion and a wonderful opportunity for everyone to come together, enjoy each other’s company and welcome spring with hope and good wishes for the year ahead. At the heart of the celebration was the Haft-Seen table, a special Nowruz tradition made up of seven symbolic items beginning with the Persian letter ‘S’, each representing values such as new life, love, health, beauty, patience and prosperity.

The women also made traditional Afghan desserts to share, and the day was filled with games, music and dancing. It was especially lovely to see how happy everyone was, particularly the children. The whole event had such a warm and cheerful atmosphere, and it gave families a great chance to relax, celebrate and spend time together as a community.

Yesterday at HealthProm we crafted our Own Story on an Eggshell 🥚✨
A Ukrainian Pysanka is more than just Easter decor. It is an ancient code where every symbol carries a deep meaning—from the intricate "endless lines" to the vibrant eight-pointed stars.
Our children, teenagers and their mums joined Traditional Pysanka Decoration Workshop.
This is a therapeutic process where time stands still, and the air is filled with the sweet scent of beeswax and honey.
At this workshop, we:
• Mastered the technique of writing with a pysachok (traditional stylus) and hot wax.
• Discovered the hidden meanings behind traditional ornaments and colours.
• Created a very own talisman to bring harmony and protection to our home.
No artistic experience was necessary—our wonderful craft artist, Taina Zavora, guided everyone through this captivating process!
Our first pysankas sure is something truly special.

In March we continue to discover the power of women!
Last Saturday we walked the same streets where history was made. 🇬🇧✊
This journey took us through the heart of Westminster to discover the fearless women who fought for the right to vote.
What we’ll explored:
• The Queen Mother: The secrets behind her longevity (101 years!) and why Hi**er once called her "the most dangerous woman in Europe."
• Charles de Gaulle: Few know him as the tender father of his daughter, Anne, who had Down syndrome and served as his greatest inspiration.
• Ribbentrop’s Dog: How a family pet became an unexpected player in a high-stakes diplomatic game.
• Masters of Propaganda: Why the Duke of Wellington and Lord Curzon, Viceroy of India, are considered the PR geniuses of their time.
• Florence Nightingale: "The Lady with the Lamp" who revolutionized medicine and sanitation during the horrors of the Crimean War.
• Nancy Astor & White’s: From the first woman in Parliament to the legendary gentlemen's clubs—the ultimate British cultural code.
• Christopher Wren: Why St. James's Church is considered the "coziest" masterpiece by the architect of St. Paul’s Cathedral.
• Maison Assouline: How Victorian arcades became the true blueprints for today’s modern shopping malls.
• Isaac Newton: How the great physicist saved the British currency and designed the coins we still recognize today.
We thank our wonderful guide, Daryna Venger, for the most captivating tour! We truly stepped back in time and saw London through the eyes of the activists who changed British law forever!
