One of the most beautiful Serbian Christmas traditions takes place on January 6, on Badnji dan.

Across Serbia, a Badnjak a young oak branch or log is blessed and then burned in churchyards or family homes. The fire symbolizes warmth, light, renewal, and prosperity, echoing the tree believed to have warmed Christ’s manger in Bethlehem.
