To check your roof height, measure from the top of the existing ceiling joists up to the underside of the roof ridge (the highest point of the roof).
As a general guideline, a minimum height of around 2.2–2.3 m is recommended before conversion. This allows for the required finished head height once new floor structures and insulation are added.
This is a guideline, not a strict rule, and lofts with lower heights may still be suitable using design solutions such as dormers. A professional site survey is the best way to confirm suitability.
