Simple biohacks for midlife women
Less overwhelm. Better health.
No time for a walk after meals? Try this instead. ๐
10 squats while brushing your teeth, between meetings, or waiting for the kettle to boil. Or calf raises at your desk.
When your muscles move, they soak up glucose from your bloodstream, helping to reduce blood sugar spikes after eating. As effective as going for a 30 minute walk.
Itโs not about doing more exercise. Itโs about sneaking movement into your day.
A tiny busy-girl biohack that makes a big impact. ๐ชโจ
Itโs simple. Thatโs why it works!
Shall we start a 10-squat challenge together? Whoโs in? ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ
Anyone else can relate? ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ
My kids think Iโm making it up. ๐
I think so many women in perimenopause will hear that and think: โYep. Thatโs me.โ
First things first: youโre not broken, failing, or turning into a horrible person.
Fluctuating hormones can affect neurotransmitters in the brain, making us feel more irritable, reactive, overwhelmed, and quick to snap. Itโs incredibly common.
A few simple hacks that can help:
โจ Pause before reacting. Take 3 slow breaths before responding. It sounds too simple, but it helps calm your nervous system.
โจ Strength train. Rage often feels like trapped energy. Moving your body gives it somewhere to go.
โจ Prioritise protein. Blood sugar crashes can make irritability much worse.
โจ Get outside. A 10-minute walk can do wonders for perspective (and save your family from your mood ๐).
โจ Protect your sleep. Everything feels harder when youโre exhausted.
โจ Give yourself some grace. Youโre navigating a huge biological transition while still trying to be a partner, parent, friend, employee, and everything else.
And perhaps most importantly...
Talk about it.
The number of women quietly walking around feeling exactly the same is far higher than you think. So letโs be real with each other and normalise this.
Have you experienced perimenopause rage? ๐
Hereโs my morning routine that supports a good night sleep, all day energy, digestion and metabolism.
โ๏ธ Morning light to tell my body itโs daytime (which helps me sleep better at night).
๐ Hot water with lemon and ginger, sipped on the sofa while cuddling the cat. The lemon and ginger support digestion, the cat boosts serotonin, and the whole ritual reminds my nervous system that weโre safe.
๐ง Electrolytes and collagen to rehydrate after sleep.
โ Coffee with MCT oil and keto powder for sustained energy and a brain that feels switched on.
๐ฆท And yes... I brush my teeth while squatting. Not because Iโm trying to become an Olympic athlete, but because little bits of movement add up.
Iโve learned that feeling good rarely comes from one big thing. Itโs usually the result of lots of tiny choices that gently nudge your body in the right direction.
None of these habits are life-changing on their own.
Together, though, they help me feel a little more energised, a little more grounded, and a little more like myself.
And honestly, thatโs enough. ๐
Whatโs one small morning ritual you couldnโt live without?
Itโs simple. Thatโs why it works.
This body has carried me through every version of my life ๐ค
Through pregnancies.
Stress.
Hormone changes.
Exhaustion.
Healing.
Growth.
Joy.
Heartbreak.
Starting over.
Keeping going.
I found this video from a few years ago and it made me emotional in the best way.
Not because I looked โbetterโ.
But because I remember how full life felt in that moment.
And life still feels full now. Different seasons, different versions of meโฆ but all equally worthy.
Yes, my body has changed over the years. Softer in places. More wobbly. More human.
But honestly? I quite love that too.
Because it means Iโm living.
And I hope when I look back at videos of myself now, I remember the life I was livingโฆ not the tiny things I criticised about myself at the time โจ

Fibre might be one of the least glamorous wellness topics, but itโs one of the most powerful.
When women tell me they struggle with:
โ bloating
โ cravings
โ energy crashes
โ brain fog
โ hormone imbalance
โฆI almost always look at gut health and fibre first.
Not because fibre is โtrendyโ.
But because your gut bacteria literally feed on it.
And most of us arenโt getting nearly enough.
The good news?
You do NOT need a perfect diet.
Often itโs just:
โจ adding vegetables before carbs
โจ sprinkling seeds onto meals
โจ eating more berries, beans and lentils
โจ slowing down when you eat
Simple things. Done consistently.
And if you suspect your gut could be affecting your energyโฆ

I caught myself doing it again the other day.
Looking in the mirror and picking myself apart in a way I would NEVER do to another woman.
Too tired.
Too bloated.
Too soft.
Too old.
Not disciplined enough.
Not doing enough.
And I thoughtโฆ would I ever speak to my daughter, my friend, or another woman like this?
Never!
So why do we do it to ourselves so easily?
Midlife has changed my body. Hormones changed my body. Stress changed my body. Life changes our body.
That doesnโt mean my body is failing.
It means my body is human.
Simple Biohacks was never created to help women become โperfectโ.
It was created because I want women to feel GOOD again.
More energy. Better moods. Less overwhelm. More confidence in their own skin.
And honestly?
Sometimes the most powerful biohack is reducing the stress we create with our own thoughts.
Your body hears everything your mind says.
So maybe today:
โจ nourish yourself
โจ move your body
โจ take the walk
โจ eat the protein
โจ support your hormones
โฆbut also speak to yourself with more kindness.
You deserve that too ๐ค
Itโs simple. Thatโs why it works.

Bloating. Brain fog. Energy crashes. Cravings.
For years, I thought these things were just part of being a busy ageing woman.
But the more I learned about the gut-brain connection, the more everything started to make sense.
Your gut affects:
โ energy
โ hormones
โ mood
โ cravings
โ focus
โ inflammation
And often, itโs the small everyday habits making the biggest difference.
Not extremes.
Not perfection.
Just simple biohacks that support your body instead of fighting it.

Iโll go first ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ
Itโs hard to pick just one. I have sooooo many that I love and swear by. But cutting out seed oils from my diet has been an absolute game-changer. Since doing that I have felt more energetic, found my brain is clearer and just overall feel so much better. I also believe it has helped massively in regulating my hormones by cutting back on inflammation.
