Our team arrived at the site in Qinghai Province and found water cutting straight through the mountainside. Rather than build over it, we designed around it, leaving gaps between structures so it flows exactly as it always has.

That's the starting point for Dachaidan Hot Springs Resort, a new hospitality and wellness destination along the Qinghai-Gansu tourism loop. Phase I brings two hotels, a private clubhouse and villa and a renovated swimming facility to a site shaped by hot spring water, Tibetan temple architecture and the surrounding rock formations.

The Arrival Hotel takes its cues from stacked stone and Buddhist stupas, its tower cut with slits of light designed to mimic a marbled cliff face. The Hot Springs Hotel is designed for slowing down, an oxygen therapy retreat nestled in a mountain gorge with sound bowl therapy, saunas and steam rooms.

Not only did water play a role in shaping the design. It also drives its performance. The hot spring water will help heat and cool the buildings - part of a sustainability strategy built around a net zero energy goal.

What happens when we make room for water?

For the Bintaro Jaya West District, the masterplan's open green spaces, including its central gathering place, The Oval, were designed as part of a dry pond system that manages stormwater within the site, rather than pushing it elsewhere.

By allowing certain areas of the site to flood just a few times each year, the water is captured to recharge the groundwater below and, in turn, enrich the landscape.

In this way, the masterplan integrates a recurring environmental condition into the site’s wider resilience strategy.

Rise by Athlon, Dubai’s first active living community, reimagines residential living through the lens of movement and wellness.

The development comprises five residential towers alongside indoor and outdoor wellness, fitness and lifestyle amenities. But one of the most thoughtful design decisions sits beneath them: the podium.

It's doing far more than holding the towers up. The podium acts as a mediating volume between the high-rise scale above and the public realm below. Spanning three floors from ground level, it also serves as a solution for parking.

Walking and cycling loops run along it, turning resident and guest activity into the thing that will bring the development to life day-to-day. What could have been purely functional becomes the community's most lively space.

Introducing Phase II of Pier Sixty-Six in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Working alongside EDSA as landscape architect, and in partnership with Tavistock Development Company, we've designed an approximately ten-acre mixed-use expansion across the northern and southern parcels of the 32-acre waterfront site.

The ambition from day one was a bold, marina-led destination with an identity entirely of its own. We carved back a portion of the site, giving an acre of land back to the water and creating a new water basin. The architecture now responds to the guest experience, opening water views and boasting a 1.43-mile-long promenade.

Four new mixed-use buildings will sit on the reimagined waterfront, each with expansive views, tapered forms inspired by nautical design and façades that catch the light from every angle. By extending retail, hospitality and public gathering spaces, the expanded development will include pools and spas, sports courts, a dog area and children’s play space, all set within lush, layered planting designed for gathering. Phase II will become a true extension of Fort Lauderdale's identity as the yachting capital of the world.

A new addition to one of the Caribbean's most beloved resorts, The Westerly at Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort & The Westerly has officially opened.

Striking pure white forms punctuated by floor-to-ceiling openings reflect the property's historic architectural character while embracing its waterfront setting. Every room offers an ocean view, with 18 beachfront suites anchoring the building's end caps. At ground level, on-grade suites are supported by a continuous plunge pool.

The showpiece is Terrace 10, an adults-only rooftop lounge with panoramic views of the Aruba coastline. By day, it functions as a wellness retreat; by night, it transforms into an entertainment hub offering live music, craft cocktails and local cuisine.

The landscape, designed by EDSA, ties it all together with tropical plantings and thoughtful pedestrian connections. Interiors by Jeffrey Beers International complete the picture with a contemporary take on mid-century modern, grounded in natural textures that echo the island's landscape.

The most successful projects become part of everyday life by giving people new reasons to return.

At Beicheng Paradise Walk, a recent "Spring Awakening" pop-up turned part of the plaza into a floral meadow, styled as a garden Monet would be proud of. It's a use for nearly 800 square metres of indoor and outdoor space we designed into the scheme, built to give the destination room for pop-ups, art exhibitions and festivals to rotate through.

When we talk about designing with agility, this is what we mean. We build spaces that respond to what the local community needs next. Retail, dining, events like this or something nobody's even thought of yet.
