We’re excited to share that we’ve been awarded £20k Experiment funding from Immersive Arts!! We look forward to continuing the exploration of our long-term project and taking our work to the next level. Introducing BARRIO: an immersive theatre-club experience.
A rave at the edge of demolition. A community at the edge of change. Inspired by the gentrification of Elephant and Castle in London and the real-life stories of first- and second-generation migrants, BARRIO fuses theatre and club culture into an interactive experience where audiences don’t just watch a story of regeneration — they move inside it.
Blending binaural and spatial audio, the work moves between intimate, headset-led reflection and a shared, headset-free rave environment. As traditional club culture declines and the cost of entertainment rises, BARRIO explores new ways of building connection.

Meet the characters of BARRIO (working title): Santi
Santiago (Santi) moved to London from Colombia when he was just three years old. He’s never been one to stand out - quiet, observant, and content to stay in the background. So, he’s uneasy when his mother takes a public stand against the council as their estate faces demolition. Ironically, it’s his unexpected connection with Sophie - a bold, outspoken journalist - that pushes him out of his shell. Thanks to her, Santi is forced to face a truth he’s long avoided: he doesn’t know who he is. And for the first time, he has to figure out where he’s going.

Meet the characters of BARRIO (working title): Fernanda
Fernanda moved to London from Colombia with her three-year-old son in the late 90s. Fleeing an abusive husband, she started working as a cleaner and gradually built a new life for herself on the Castleview Estate. Sassy, determined, and deeply rooted in her faith, she refuses to stand by when the council threatens to displace her family once again. A natural fighter, she becomes a leading voice in her community, proving that hope is never truly lost.
