Steve Reich in conversation with Limelight and Canberra International Music Festival artistic director Roland Peelman ahead of the concert "American Modern" on 4th May. I'm really excited to play Electric Counterpoint at that concert, particularly because it will be programmed alongside Different Trains - like in the '89 Nonesuch Records recording by Pat Metheny and Kronos Quartet.
What a treat!
Paywall to the entire article unfortunately but 2 quid for a month is alright if one is interested.

I'm super excited to announce the dates for my Australian tour this May!!!

7-9th Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, Brisbane
11th Tempo Rubato, Melbourne
14th University of Tasmania, Hobart
17th Potter Recital Hall, The Hedberg, Hobart

I'm bringing a programme including some of my favourite music, loosely united by repetition and cyclicality but extending to themes of immigration, nature and nurturing the infinite within.
Completely buzzing with excitement and I can't wait to see all my friends down under! 🤙

See you there! 🥳

Last week I played a very last minute solo recital for West Wight Arts Association. The atmosphere was amazing on the Isle of Wight!
This weekend I played Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez with Dorking Philharmonia.
Stay tuned for important announcements tomorrow!

Thank you 🙏

Just last October I played Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez for the first time. Now I get to do it one more time in slightly over three weeks in Dorking on 16th March. So looking forward to experiencing it again!
Would be lovely to see some friends, if you're nearby come and hang out!
🚨 Also - details about my Australian tour coming very soon - watch this space! 👀

My little (1 min. long 😂) Prelude No. 2 is on YouTube. I'm not a composer but once in a while some music will bubble up and I write it down.
Thanks to Stephen Eden for letting me have the video. This was recorded on his Grand Concert No. 200. Lovely guitar.

Very nice to visit Stephen Eden and Sabrina Holt yesterday. Steve made some amazing guitars - the spruce top on the rack is his celebratory Nr. 200 concert model (I forget how many of his student Cadenzas, but also hundreds). Behind that, my Nr. 157 from 2019, which I brought back to London. Not in shot are Nr. 202 and Nr. 203 - two stunning Daniel Friederich copies.
We made some videos, will share when ready.
Today I celebrate my first guitar lesson 21 years ago in Sofia. I remember because 8 year old me had to wait for a few more years before it was possible.
Today I finished memorising this little piece called "Infinite Blue" by Karlijn Langendijk. Like everyone, I'm work in progress, so sharing it with you from my practise, warts and all. I hope to be able to continue this process for as long as I live.
So many teachers to be grateful for on this day but the one that started me on this path is called Ekaterina Vaseva. She taught me much more than guitar playing.
My phone makes only slightly better videos than a potato, I know. 😂

There is only one time you play at Wigmore Hall for the first time... I will need the rest of the week to process what happened last night but thank you so much to all my friends, family and audience members who came out to hear my Wigmore debut last night. You made such an amazing atmosphere! The sound in that space is magical and unlike anything I've experienced before, it was so inspiring.
Eternally grateful to John Williams and the Julian Bream Trust for this opportunity, and my musical friend, the genius Milton Mermikides for playing his part absolutely beautifully - it was such a massive joy to blast Electric Counterpoint out into this amazing acoustic, and apparently I was grinning.
Such a fun day, one of the best in my life.
Follow the white rabbit.

I bought a ticket for my own Wigmore Hall concert because I thought it would be hilarious to have my name on the ticket AND on the receipt.
I just can't believe it's happening tomorrow night. Bonkers. See you tomorrow!
