We’re in the second week of production rehearsals for our upcoming performance in collaboration with Welsh National Opera! Under the direction of Laura Attridge, this stunning showcase features scenes from operatic masterpieces such as Rossini’s Il turco in Italia, Puccini’s La bohème, Bellini’s I Capuleti e i Montecchi, and more.

This one-night-only event will be accompanied by the Welsh National Opera Orchestra, conducted by Ryan McAdams.

Introducing our 2025 Academy Singers!

The inaugural National Opera Studio Academy is designed to support young singers aged 19-25 who show considerable vocal promise. Our Academy Singers will receive intensive training in vocal technique, stagecraft, diction, and more, with guidance from NOS staff and guest coaches.

🎭 Exciting news! Next week, we start production rehearsals for our upcoming performance in partnership with Welsh National Opera! ✨

Directing this performance is writer and director Laura Attridge, celebrated for her rich, clear, and captivating storytelling. We can't wait to bring this collaboration to life—stay tuned for updates! 💫

Laura has been involved in projects with many of the UK’s leading opera and classical music organisations, including the Royal Opera House, Glyndebourne, Scottish Opera, Opera North, English Touring Opera, Buxton International Festival and Mahogany Opera. She is a published poet, and her songs, choral works and libretti have been performed internationally.

Applications for repetiteurs for our 2025/26 Young Artists Programme are open until 27 January 2025.

In addition to the main group residencies, our Young Artist repetiteurs also have the unique opportunity to spend several days with Scottish Opera, one of our partner companies, where they can shadow their Head of Music and gain hands-on experience working on productions.
