Finishing the script answers one question.
Then creates about 27 more.
If you're at the “I've written it… now what?” stage, keep 7 November free.
We’ll tell you why very soon.

A great scene doesn’t just move the story forward. It **changes something**.

A character gains the upper hand.
Then loses it.

A plan seems to be working.
Then something shifts.

We learn something that changes how we understand what came before.

When you’re working through a scene, try asking Rian Johnson’s question:

**What’s the reversal?**

And if you can’t find one, it might be worth asking whether the scene is really changing the story at all.

Save this one for your next rewrite. ✍️

One of the hardest things about writing is finding the balance. If the story is too simple the audience will be bored, if it's too complicated the audience will be lost. Finding the balance is so important for your script.
